I had an awesome session on my 11m bandit!
Heaps of fun!! Haven't kited for way over month until today!

There looked like there was over 20 kites out at brighton and over 10 at sandgate

oh... and no steamer, you only feel the cold when you stop

I reckon that was the best weekend of weather the brighton has produced since i started kiting. had an absolute ball even though one of my lines snapped on saturday. i borrowed my sisters 10.5cult on sunday and bought an 11m starkite. can't wait till this weekend to take it out.
Allkind the green/yellow/black cult is clintos's but there's two 12.5s the same at brighton. are you a regular?

We did a downwinder from Mudjimba to Yaroomba... epic session broke my bridle though but I still managed to kite back holding one side of the bar to keep it flying straight and pulling the lines in manually to turn. Some epic 8ft-10ft sets coming in.

Luke I have to bring that bar back, its been a month now so I will just give ya $50 for the rental lol...

And thats why kiters have a bad rep. Remember mother nature owns all. Respect her.
Or get ragdolled and make others help you out (maybe not so cool for your image Clintos).
Yes, i'm a windsurfer (or whatever you would like to call us) but probably know alot more about wind then someone contemplating this silly move

Silly kiters listen to your more knowledgeable peers, if you don't have a sailing type background, learn about it. Stop getting yourselves banned!

You truly are my hero, if only more of us were hardcore wind guru's like you, the world would be a much safer place. Silly windsurfers, listen to Dism and bow down to his superiority.

Why thankyou Paul1, I'm glad to see you know your place
Hey i'm got on issues if you all get banned for ruining your sport
But all you kiting peers won't be

Glad to see Clintos had a good ride, nothing worse then being out on the wrong sized gear and being under or overpowered heaps

Hey Clintos,

Strange that you ask for peoples advice as to whether your kite is too big for the conditions, Paul1 tells you it's too big and then you decide you know better and will take the risk and do it anyway.

The fact that you have to ask if it is too windy shows your inexperience at handling winds from 30 to 35 knots. The fact that you are willing to have a go with a 12m shows an even more disturbing lack of experience and consideration for others that will have to clean up the mess you will likely make for yourself.

Most 7m kites are stretched to the limits of their wind range at 35 knots, what makes you think you can handle a kite almost twice the size with less experience than other?

My advice to you is to put your kite away and borrow, buy or demo a small kite. If you can't do either of these, just sit on the sideline and watch people who have the right gear.

But hey, what do I know, I've only been kiting 8 years and teaching for 7

Good winds,

I'd have to agree, good call mate

Oh no... here comes Jism ejaculating all over our kiting forum again.... I would have thought that the self proclaimed lord of the wind would have better things to do than leave his mess over here...

And to the moderator who vanished my last post, presumably for being crude, look up the word "ejaculate" in the dictionary... I am obviously refering to the poster "uttering suddenly" or "exclaiming passionately"

Thanks for the maturity Clintos.
You do your sport proud.
Btw, I never mentioned I was the expert, but you have shown by silly claims (i.e. Should I go out when its too windy for a certain kite size, would that make me cool?) and attitude that you do need to listen to your kiting elders etc.

Btw, in my last post over here I was trying helping to suss out stolen kites to help you guys out (see: Possible stolen kite thread). But apparently i'm all over here jizzing on your threads?

Experienced people here are trying to offer good advice to help preserve your ass. Kiting accidents do happen and if you have ever had the displeasure of seeing someone broken from a bad accident, you will quickly learn that the price sometimes paid for all that hot air and bravado is both excessive and tragic. I guess some people are just too determined to rid the gene pool of the stain they have created. At the end of the day, there is little wrong with excercising a bit of caution in a sport with so much at stake when things go wrong.

Dism offered some sensible advice. He was speaking as a "sailor"
Why all the abuse?
Reminds me of the treatment I get over on the windsurfing Forum !

No need to drag us down to their level !

Oh for f&cks sake!

I guess I have to repeat myself again.... Some points for the rabid hordes intent on painting me as the stereotypical smart-ass kiteboarder out to get himself killed.

1. The original question posed was referring to the temperature and abundance of rain on the aforementioned weekend.

2. Note the quotation marks surrounding the word severe in the original question. This is a literary device often employed to indicate that the author's actual opinion differs from that stated. The fact is that despite the "severe" weather warnings and talk about 30 -35 knot winds, the reality was that it didn't get over 25 knots in Brisbane. I was questioning the "severe" moniker for 20 -25 knot winds and was NEVER going out in 30 -35 knot winds with a 12 metre kite.

3. Always grateful for advice, however advice shouldn't be confused with lecturing/preaching/being a pain in the arse....
ie. Paul1's original response was advice... "I don't recommend you go out in 30 knot winds with a 12"

Telling someone they are an idiot/stupid kiteboarder/newbie obsessed with looking cool etc does not constitute advice... it just makes you a pontificating git and renders you fair game for ridicule.

4. Nice work user, I see what you did there...

^ Thanks for the English lesson Clintos, now who is the "pontificating git"?

Well maybe you aren't the "idiot/stupid kiteboarder/newbie obsessed with looking cool" but you sure sounded like it initially. If you know your stuff, then why ask the dumb questions?

As for congratulating User, that's ironic, since he is paying out the windsurfers who are being immature and calling him names, yet you did that to me. Thus, you are agreeing with User that you are being as immature as these others.

Btw, I think we all need a sail, on whatever craft we choose, thats the real issue here. Now I won't say your being stupid, if you don't say stupid things. The reason why I may be frustrated and arguing - Haven't had a sail in bout 6 weeks now (stuck inland atm, going insane). Have you been out recently?

Time to go for a sail.

I agree wholeheartedly and think that the Sunday forecast is looking excellent in Perth. Hopefully it turns out like the boss says it will.
