Alva Beach is located on a spit of sand that extends 20 km northward to Cape Bowling Green. The beach lies immediately north of the shifting mouth of Plantation Creek, one of the five Burdekin River entrances, and extends for 4.5 km to where the small Alva Creek crosses the beach, beyond which is Cape Bowling Green. The beach is 15 km north-east of Ayr. There is a big sign on the main road leading to Alva Beach, you cant miss it!

Definately the bet place I've never kited. Hope it's good for 8-9 May and I hope I'm allowed to go..........
Sweet Cairns crew coming down too!
We went down to Alva yesterday and had the perfect day :)
Such an amazing spot!
Will put up some footage we took with gopro in the next couple of days.
keep an eye out...
I am sorry I can't make it. But Alva rocks and I can recommend as a top spot. Certainly worth the effort to get there.
yeah bro, big Croc's lurk in the flat water, and the big ass TIGER SHARKS patrol the waves
. but it's going to be Great, takes a real man to to use a croc for a slider
...and the mullet.
Don't ever forget the Alva mullet packs....
...they can suck any skin not covered by your purple lycra suit right off your body, if they haven't had their ration of Big Al's prawn pond effluent earlier in the day.
Vicious critters there, for sure.
ok i confess,
Alva has to be the best kiteboarding location i have ever kited in, it's a big call but i reckon the Australian Freestyle nationals should be held there ![]()
Hey peoplez!!!!
i just had a chat to our NQ weather guru Dr Groove!
He says the models are looking good for alva 8/9th weekend, 20-25knts and could even be 25-30knts!
LIZARD ISLAND conditions. Please make sure you pack you small kites!
we will have butter smooth flat water and overhead waves out the back!
Dr Groove will give us another wind prediction closer to the date!
So excited about this event! We have a lot of people from all over OZ coming to NQ for this...
Thanx for all the great support ![]()
Sounds like a sweet event. Unfortunately, I was never able attend because of university and other commitments.
Hope you guys get some epic wind!! :).
Cheers,
Andy
One week away, and the NQ forecast is pretty much green arrows solid for the next week. We seem to be into a stable autumn weather pattern of high's in the bight and the Tasman Sea.
Always fraught with uncertainty, making weather calls more than 4 days in advance, but:
could pretty much guarantee we will have wind for the event, somewhere between 15 and 25 knots.
Game On!
