Lol! It has been a while since that clip was filmed!

For the uninitiated, Alex was one of the pioneers of kitesurfing and landboarding in Australia, and among the first to start in the deep dark scary ages of kites. He has a strong and "unique" personality that doesn't agree with everyone, and if you have ever met him then you would remember.

Quite the celebrity it seems, I have never met George Negus!

That's right. So reverse the thumbs fools.

I am simply trying to spotlight a man that I have never met, but had grown to appreciate and respect.

If there ever was someone that deserves our recognition and gratitude for testing kites almost since they were invented and giving us his kooky reviews and persona - it's Alex.

Now show respect fools!

I remember when first got into kiting, back in 2004, I met him over in Altona - super psyched dude driving a sick biodiesel Oka truck.
Heaps at St Kilda kitebeach too.

One of the first characters i met in kiteboarding.
I'm pretty sure Alex enjoys life more than most!

Hope he's still rocking out!

He's been banned from or kicked out of several states and countries. Quite the character indeed!

Banned on seabreeze as well.

I really think he should be allowed back in, if you banned all the butt-heads there will be no one left on seabreeze.

This comes around every few years.

Alex is for sure a character, one of the most real people you will ever meet, he just does what he wants and doesn't give a ****. Sometimes he does some silly/stupid stuff and that rubs people the wrong way. I guarantee though the majority of people that don't like him haven't done close to half as much for getting people into kiting and making them stoked on flying kites... So for that I tip my hat to him.

p.s. He was actually the only reason I first got to start flying kites. He would let people/kids fly his trainer kites on the beach when you would otherwise have no chance to try a kite. I know Ewan Jaspan got into the sport the exact same way.

Sounds very much like me, which is why I admire Alex. After I found out from locals about him and what he's done for the sport, he's definitely an unsung hero.
