Hey all. Thinking of flying up to Airlie Beach over Easter. Is there any Kiting at that time of year (17-22 April)? Seems like Bowen is a better option for spots, but Mrs is keen to stay in Airlie. Are there still stingers in the water? Any info appreciated.

Only stinger that will worry you is your misses ![]()
The locals kite at Conway beach, have not gone out that way myself but they tell me it's good. For me it's way too close to Proserpine river....full of lizards!
If you decide to come to Bowen we are at the front beach on a S or SE. The Don when it's ESE or E. Should be blowing that time of year, well pretty much we kite all year round here. It's better of course after summer as the trade winds kick in. Stingers..........nah don't worry about them!
PM me if you need any more info if you guys decide to come to Bowen.
Thanks guys. Conway seems a bit like a game of Russian Roulette. Will have to convince the Mrs the Bowen is the go.
Stay at Airlie as there is more to do there and have a day or two for kiting at Bowen, if you are going to hire a car. There are other places around that area to visit that are worth while if you get a car. Just remember to wear really dark sunnies if you go to the Airlie lagoon ;)
Conway looked totally dodgy..muddy and russian roulette. I actually gave it up when wrking in airlie.never made it to bowen or ayr.never seemed to be so clear there..
But was just wondering what the story was with nearby hideaway bay??
Allways offshore? Anyone know? Thanks![]()
Conway is our local close to home, go to Bowen from time to time, Don is good when it backs to the east, in town SE is sweet and i always like going to Bowen, different type of town..
Pick your tides it can be a long walk at spring lows,,
Stay in Airlie keep the misses happy apre kite, a trip to Bowen is about 45 mins e/w, 20 to Conway, midge pt is also good and can take a fair bit of east..
FB Whitsunday Kitesurfers/boarders, might find a local heading out, don't worry about crocs, locals use the river when it's too far to walk to the beach.
Get yourself here and support our local economy, there is still some village left in Airlie.
You can Utube oliver cleary to view some local kiting. hope to see you in Airlie

Ha ha what are you saying about our lagoon, i was a life guard there some time ago my job was to look and observe,no need to hide behind the frames. have to take the good with the bad and believe me it was one of my interesting occupations, schoolie weeks, 5 am closing no wonder it got nic-named the sperm bank or gene pool.
It became a sad joke, thankfully those days are over as far as i know...
