Hi all, I’ve been riding a Cabrinha Switchblade 2011 (10m) for the last 2 years (Only kite I’ve ever had) and finally after a messed up backloop transition she finally tore on me for the first time. It’s been a damn good kite and I will get it repaired but at the same time I’d like to try something new.
I am a full on wakestyle rider, so I’m looking for more of a wakestyle kite, though it so happens that at the moment I’m crazy strapped for cash (i.e.$750 is about the highest I could go) and would like some advice on what to get.
I’m interested in the Ozone C4 (10m), I’ve heard they are good but I’ve also heard I might need a bigger size compared to the switchy. Not sure if this is true or not but I weigh 75kg. What do you guys think. I’m interested in North Vegas & Cab Chaos but I really can’t afford either of those kites from what I’ve seen.
I found a Flexifoil Hadlow ID (12m) (2012) for $450. I don’t know much about Flexifoil. I’m thinking maybe I should go for more of a C kite anyway since I ride wakestyle.
Sorry for all the questions. Even though I’ve been kiting a while, I don’t know much about different kites and I’ve heard switchy’s are really diverse so I really want to make sure I get it right. Thanks!

Since you are a full on wakestyle rider I would only consider the kites that are the best for this task.
C4 is a good choice, no doubt. The Hadlow ID helped me improve my wakestyle riding over the last 2 years.
Solid pop and a top level amout of slackness for passing the bar. If you want the ultimate pop and slackness you need to look at the hadlow pro or slingshot fuel, true C (not only ARC but also line attachment). After riding any of those kites for a while you won't want to go back to your switchblade or any other less performant kite.
Note that the Hadlow ID has a speciffic bar throw that you need to get used to. Long distance from hook to bar and you are riding with semi extended arms. The Bar diameter is thinner then most bars and has a lot of grip (almos to much). I miss particularly the bar throw that Flexifoil offers, now that I'm riding the new Slingshot Fuels. Big Chicken loop will fix that though.

The c kites have less wind range than the bow . maybe 2 kites ;-]
With the cab custom your gunna need heaps of power imho.

the 10m C4 won't have exactly the same wind range as your 10m switchblade bow kite. With practice you can improve the bottom and top end through your riding technique. Yet choosing a bigger size will only shift the sweet spot and general wind range into a different direction, earlier planing on a 12m and sooner overpowered.
I believe a 10m C4 will replace your current 10m just fine, especially because you are light (75kg). All the other pros and cons you will learn to deal with but certainly appreciate it's freestyle potential.
Personally I was going out on the Hadlow ID 10m in about 17-22knots, doing all of my tricks and I'm about 95kg.
Remember if you are worried about the new low end of the kite all you need to do is put on 5m line extensions to your bar in light winds...

It's not a myth. Generally speaking because of their shape C kites generate less pull for the same surface area than a Bow/Delta kite. This is the case with the C4, although your weight plays in your favor and will make less of a difference. But still probably go 1m bigger than what you used to have and you'll be fine

if so, my 2011 11m C4 has about the same power as my 2013 9m RPM. Not advising buying an RPM, just power comparison

Good to know. I think I'd need a 12m C4 anyway. If I'm lucky I might be able to stretch my budget to 1k (wife permitting).
I'll have a look at the Razor, Torch & Fuel and see how they look.
Iv got an 11m razor and an 11m fuel, and the fuel pulls like a 9 bow and the razor pulls like any other 11m bow. I was using my 13 razor in 10 knots with good pop (run out tide).

get a 11m c4. It will roughly match the power of your cab. Or if you want to improve your kite flying skills and ge the most amount of slack get a c kite (without a bridle). They just slack so much more than any other type of kite. Torch's are pretty easy to fly and not super aggressive, highly recommended.
its not a c but you can have my 2011 core gts with bar and lines for $200 pre-repaired multiple times, 5 i think so you wont have to, thats bargain of the year

Chaos is good and i recon you could find a decent second hand one maybe 2014 within your budget id go for the 11 but i dunno if youll get away with 1 kite. Honestly i recon the best kite that has enough wind range to have just 1 kite would have to be an rpm (10m). Wont slack like a c but much better ahead than a switchy for wakestyle. If your looking for a second hand one just beware of trailing edge wear.
I have been riding the C4's for 3 years now, they are an amazing freestyle/wake style kite. To be honest people struggle with the c4 in light wind just because they don't know how to ride them and that's why you hear things like "you need a bigger size with the C4's", but when someone try's the c4 in good solid wind, those sayings all go out the window. Its a kite you have to ride for a while. Most people try them for 30min and give up. In good solid wind there a beast to ride, and I definitely recommend them!

I've never had a problem with the C4 in light wind... it's exactly like any kite in its category (C/ Bridaled C). The 12 and the 10 are probably my favourite sizes, but the 14 is really nice as well when it's light.

That's what I mean I don't under stand where people are coming from when they criticise the C4 in light winds, my favourite size is the 8, I can pretty much ride it any any conditions.

Dear Ninja counterpart. I wouldn't buy your core if it were the last kite on earth. That thing just explodes when it hits the water... and I'm pretty sure the last time I saw you fly it, it just refused to fly. You'd have to pay me to take that kite off you XD
