Maybe they guys at KSS should start talking to council about appropriate large signage to tell people what to do.
OK, just as long as they work together so the sign is not a hazard and something else to hit
Great news on the recovery.
A lot of you are wondering how Quinn is doing and I thought I would share the positive news with you. Quinn has been taken off sedatives and is now 'awake'. His eyes are tracking you as you move and thankfully he seems able to move his left arm and left leg. No conversation just yet but this result is better than anyone ever expected. His friends, family and colleagues are all amazed and relieved.
He even had a cheeky squeeze at some of his nurses and visitors which gave the whole situation some levity. All we can do now is continue to monitor his progress and pray for a complete recovery. Having wrestled and boxed in competitions, Quinn has always been a fighter and continues to prove it on a daily basis.
Thank you again for the support we've received over this last nail-biting week. I'll post updates when appropriate.
Just to reiterate what my colleague Qmate has said, we are definitely pleasantly surprised at the progress Quinn has made within the past week. It has helped buoy the mood around the office in his absence as well as to provide a breath of fresh air to start the week.
Once again, I would love to thank the entire kite-surfing community for the fantastic support. I have sneaked some words of encouragement from all of you into Quinn's ears in the past week and I am quite definite that it is the love and support that has continuously spurred him along the path to recovery!

That's fantastic news, thank you for keeping us all up dated. Prayers are with him for a full recovery
Glad to hear! I've been nervous even checking back for updates but happy to hear Quinn is getting better.
I've had 2 cousins go through similar accidents (different sports) and its a long road. But with the right
support, patience etc anything is possible!
Good luck Quinn in your recovery.
Hi everyone, I'm afraid that there hasn't been a great deal of change in his status since he was taken off sedatives. I just wanted to share the details of the Facebook page created to help support him. While I know most of you didn't know Quinn, I get the feeling the majority of you would have wanted to know more about him. Until we received the family's permission that they were happy for us to make his identity public we held off giving many details. If you would like to see pictures of this great guy and leave wellwishes or wish to donate funds towards his rehabilitation please visit:

The link to the fundraising site is on Facebook however I will put it here for your info.

Thanks again everyone!
Hi Qmate,
Thanks for the update and showing us how we can help. Im sorry there's been no changle lately, but from what you've all said its going to be a long process anyway. I'll start spreading the word so any pennies donated can help.

Hi Chino, he has medical insurance which is covering many of the costs but not all of them. Quinn isn't a PR yet.

Hope Quin makes a full recovery.
Lots of lessons here for many to take on board, myself as a new kiter Im amazed at what Ive learnt here and confused at some othere things.
Been kiting probably 20 times, just getting into down winders and i had 3 lessons before I started kiting.
1. I never new a kite could just loft if hit with a gust at 12.
2. I practice releasing the emergency in lessons but its not in my mind when launching or landing, it is now!
3. at the beginning of the thread it says not to kite when its directly onshore??? What I though that was the optimum??

A kite at 12 on the beach is one of the most dangerous kitesurfing moments if its gusty. You will go straight up if a gust catches it.
Onshore wind is best avoided by beginners. It can be hard to get off the beach and you must be able to stay upwind to go anywhere.
Best wind directions for beginners are cross onshore and cross shore.

Dear Fellow Kiteboarders,
My name is Janna Huynh; I am Quinn Huynh's sister. Thank you to everyone who supported Quinn in his rehabilitation efforts. Your prayers, kindness, and generosity mean more to us than you will ever know. Your donations have and will continue to make a world of difference in our lives.
With the support of the kiteboarding community and Quinn's close friends we have managed to organise a fundraiser and sports safety awareness night. The president of Kiteboarding Victoria, Rick Elliot, will be speaking at the event promoting safety awareness in the kiteboarding community.
