Scored for a north wam that comes with a bit of damage, looking to fix it up as a spare. Keen to do it myself as a learning experience and would like to tap into the wealth of knowledge that lives on sb.
Please see pics. I have a tube of solarez and lots of eagerness to give it a crack. The board has been left to dry for about 4 weeks.
dig out or sand off any delaminated bits. Sand back the paint from the area. Confine the repair to no more than is needed. ideally sand both sides of the fractured glass to feathered edges. Absolutely DON'T use any sort of Polyester resin. Epoxy resin only. Fill any holes with resin & Q-Cell mix to toothpaste consistency. Allow to set, then sand back again if required to an even surface. Tape up around repair so you don't mess up more area than you need to. I'd lay 2 layers of 6oz over this, the 1st layer a bit smaller to fair the repair better. Around the rail I often attach masking tape to the edges of 2 sides of the cloth so you can lay down the cloth fixed into position, with a bit of tension across it. After wetting out the cloth with epoxy resin firmly squeegy off what you can. Use an old credit card. The cloth is the strength not the resin. Let set, sand off any dags and down through the tape at the edges, and lightly squeegy a layer of resin only, or resin/Q-cell to fair off.

They are really helpful and know their stuff. If you are nice to them you can take your board in there and they will give you good trustworthy advice on how to best fix it and they will have everything you could possibly need to get the job done. everything in one stop.

After that, you need some wet and dry sandpaper until you get totally bored of it, then a couple of light coats with a spray can from bunnings, you won't even pick it!
