Was teaching a lady friend how to fly a kite with a waist harness today and she said it was hurting her boobies.
She is a thin girl and could have done with a small size instead of a medium (my bad)
My question is do girls like seat harnesses or waist harnesses (when they fit)
Totally depends on their figure, and a waist harness has to be the correct size, no matter what the brand. Seat harnesses were exceptional when kites had no depower and made the walk of shame very difficult. Depower your kite a bit, sheet out and you can run upwind with all the new stuff, including the latest C kites.....Try that when you had 5cm of depower..
i like my waist but it must be super tight when learning. When she has the right size get her to go for a little swim in it first so it gets all loose again. Then give it another tighten. But it will ride up a little when learning because the kite is frequently at 12.
So far i haven't met many girls that wear seat..... But it's definately a shape thing
And hahaha you said boobies
Cheers little O, excellent tip.
It was her first lesson and she's super keen, Ive let her know about WACK, and shes frothing to have another lesson!
Yeah on the harness thing, every thing can be right, kite, instruction, board, but if the harness is the wrong shape or wrong size everything else will be wrong.
Try on loads, because its the shape as well as the size that matters. Try the AKS shop at scarbs, Darren has loads of girlie harness's pat loves, 2 or three dirrerent ion harnesses, mystic magics, and flying objects, in all the sizes down as far as XS.

it has been said that i have a body like a lady with no boobies(ha he said it again)
had to wear seat for long time(waist would bludy hurt after 10mins), have now changed to waist, which so much better, comfortable and easier to do tricks on
little o is bang on wet new harnesses first dozen times before you put them on, seem to stretch and stay put then
Yep, gotta watch out for the boobies when you are a chick learning. ![]()
Especially in the ocean on a directional board. That harness hook can be evil. I started with a waist harness, it rode up to bejesus, i couldn't reach the bar and it was all very discouraging.
I went to a Dakine seat harness for a year, it's really hard to walk upwind with a seat harness tho. Got my skills up a bit, and have now gone back to my waist harness with a sliding spreader bar (dynabar). Best invention ever, the hook angles up when the kite is high so the harness stays put and it slides around so toeside is comfy. I. Whilst a wise kite instructor once told me "you know what is easier than walking upwind? Kiting upwind" we all occasionally do the walk of shame and the dynabar slides round to the side and makes it super easy.![]()
Please post some pictues so we can see what problem she is having![]()
And if you can take the pic without a wetshirt on so we could see where the rubbing and pain is happening would help alot.![]()
I started with a seat harness, and haven't had any reason to change so far, find it quite comfortable actually.
Another tip is to pull your straps back before you pull them forward.......Try it and you will be amazed it actually works it is to do with the ratchet force of the buckles/straps......I heard about it and tried it today and it really works........?????????????????????????????????????????????????????
