I've been finding some nights down at my local that the winds just aren't enough (10-15knotts) to fly my 13m slingshot octane, with the tide out I have about 70m of flat beach.
So the first thing that comes to mind is land kiting....
Am I best to invest in a foil kite? Or will I be right with a LEI ? I'm assuming you don't need the equivalent kite for land boarding as there is less drag
Where can I find second hand land boards and foils?
Cheers
Switch does a very good land board for a great price... I think my smaller land board cost US$100 - old stock sale.
Depends on how soft your sand is :) try it with your regular kite, might be ok. Just watch out for speed wobbles and be ready to QR :D
Just use your leis bro. To start with a size down from what you use on the water. Then when you can handle the jandle same size... or bigger.
13m will be sweet in 10-15 knots.
I use my 15m flysurfer up to 20 knots on the landboard.
But I wouldn't suggest that silliness until you have built up some skill.
As Kamizuka states. Check the hardness of your sand. Softer sand needs bigger wheels.
Buy a board to suit your terrain.
Short landboards with skate trucks are good for freestyle but bad on soft sand and twitchy at speed.
Bigger board, wheels and channel trucks better in soft sand, bumpy beach and high speed, plus boosting higher as well.
at sandy point foil or lei will be ok, lots of space. If you going to landboard on parks or 13 the beach where there is not much space for error I will use a foil kite. It is a pain to fix little holds in the bladder. cheers
