As some of you perhaps might have heard, my lost board was recovered by a fellow kite surfer yesterday. It was still at the same beach where I had lost it. It really made my day.
Two days after I lost it and thought it would have been knicked for sure. But guess what - it shows that there are honest and caring people out there! Fellow kite surfers must have taken the board to a visible spot and left it there for the rightful owner to find it.
It prompted me to say thanks to everyone that I have crossed paths with so far and it's been a hugely positive experience. From being gifted a trainer kite to start out with in the world of kitesurfing by a fellow forum member, to great and honest advice from various forum members to awesome 2nd hand gear at a fair price to people offering me to borrow their boards when I lost my own to people who said they'd look out for my board when they'd go back to the spot I lost it at and one of them eventually finding it and brining it back to me,... the list goes on and on.
I do count my lucky stars, but to me it feels like there is a special commeraderie amongst kite surfers. People who are not in competition with each other (as is my experience when wave surfing) but are happy to help each other in many more ways than just launch and land kites.
I am deeply grateful for all the contacts I have made here (and on FB), the selfless help I have received and the awesome team spirit.
Great people sharing a great passion.
Thanks for everything guys - it's made taking up this sport a lot more easy and fun for me.
