Hey guys, long time reader first time poster....

I'm a beginner kiter, done a few lessons and been getting out there on my own a bit now (about a dozen times or so).

My instructor recommended a 10m Flow for a first kite, but I found the Airush gear a bit dear so got my hands on a Cabrinah Convert 9m for a first kite. I'm 83kg/186cm and usually kiting in around 16-22 knots in Perth.

My question is sometimes feel a bit underpowered and have been thinking of maybe changing to a bigger kite even though I'm still a beginner.. I've been looking at something like a second hand F-1 Tribal 2 11m. I would like to stick to just having 1 kite till I am past the beginner stage if possible, and I'm quite happy to sit and watch people tearing it up out there if the wind is obviously to strong for me.

Should I look for something a bit bigger or persist with the 9m Convert?
(I use a 138 Cabrinah Prodigy if that's any use)

Happy Kiting!!

Get a 12m mate. I weigh about 78kgs and use a 12m from 15-30 knots.

The Cabrinha website reckons that the Covert 9m is good for 14 to 22 knots for a 70kg to 80kg rider. Seeing as you are 84kg I would have gone for the 12m.

I wouldn't have thought that Cabrinha was cheaper than Airush?

I currently ride a 10m and 14m Cabrinha SB2 (I'm 85kg and ride a 137 board) however when I get rid of those i will get an 8m and 12m SB3 starting with the 12m first.

In Perth conditions and with your weight/height I would say a 12 would be the best kite for you if you.. You will be able to ride that 80% of the days easy. If it gets too strong you can take it down but usually there's a good hour or two before it does or a good hour or two as it's dropping down again.

Good luck and welcome to the sport dude

I have 12m and 9m 07 Rebels, a 666 129x39 board, 73kg and if I could only keep one kite I would keep the 12 (in Perth)
