I don't recall any rips, However the bladders are shot with the Fuels.

Yeah these kites wouldn't suit you markie, being 100kg+ you need what is called a pie lovers kite, 14m would be a better fit for your weight range, I have one for sale seeing you are interested, My old light wind kite. Would be perfect for you to learn on and is very forgiving while you learn.
