I was after some advice on the major differences between 20m and 25m lines, as I've just got hold of a 2010 Rebel which came with 25m lines. So far (2 sessions), it has felt ........really different. wondering why...
Seems like there's more power available, better in lower wind range but still struggling to adjust when launching big. Trying to work out if this is more to do with minor changes in the Kites Rebel09 / 10, or if the lines have more of an influence.
Any useful tips would be greatly appreciated..

In general the longer the line the more power the kite generates at the turn, but it turns slower.....
Same way: shorter lines = faster turn, but less power at turning.
It is because of the change of the wind window: longer lines = larger wind window, more time for the kite to travel...etc...
It also depends on the design of the kite. I found putting a frisky small kite in gusty strong winds onto longer lines helps the control, and putting a slow big kite on shorter lines improves turning speed.
It also depends on the riding style. Wave riders prefer shorter lines for quick turns. Freestyle floaty jumps may need longer lines...etc
Usually putting a kite on longer lines increases its bottom end as well...

That pretty much sum's up the difference in feeling. Good to double check... Much appreciated
Good winds to ya champ.

so if I'm starting with 23m lines out of the factory and am looking to improve the speed of my kite will taking it down to 20m be noticeable?
should I go 19 or 18m lines?
I've tried only 5m and 6m extensions to 20m lines. I am pretty sure 3m would be quite noticeable too....but remember, you trade in power and low-end to speed.
...I am not sure about shorter than 20m lines....I saw someone on around 15m lines: the kite was constantly hitting the water on each side of the window...
