Hi all, I just signed up for the Ledge to Lancelin Kite downwind race on the 11th Jan coming up soon. Just wanting to know about what type of PFD is required - or does any PFD comply? Also any info on type of flares required?

I know its generally a sail board event but I remember doing it years back when the sail board dudes let us chase them down the coast, It was heaps fun. I hope we get lots of kite entries this year to help make the kite race group competitive.

See everyone on the start line. Try and catch me

Thanks for the heads up Topline I have also just registered.

Last year we were required to wear the same type of PFD as the Rotto race so class 1 or 2 I think and also supply our own flares or hire them. You can buy the flares & a pfd from a Marine chandlery outlet, make sure the flares are the orange daytime ones and we were required to carry 2. Kite addiction has good pfd's.

Cheers Weta, I am onto it. Gotta check my PFD see if ts its a class 1 or 2, I'm not sure as its a wake board model.

How many kite racers were in it last year? What is the time to beat? If I remember last time I raced my time was about 35-40 mins. I'm running much faster kite and board now though.

Also is it just out to sea round a turn mark, then down the coast around a turn mark and into the finish. Or do they run a giant slalom style course?

See you on the water
