Slingshotoz are expecting these kites to hit our shores in the second week of March.

are they similar to the ozone c4? Both being 'Open C' kites, yeah?

Demos available mid to late March. Phone or pm if you want to book a demo.
And no they are not the equivalent of a C4. Both great kites but quite different. Check both kites on the home sites. The RPM remains a bit of a 'one-off' in design features. One of the few kites that really crosses all boundaries from freestyle to surf. My tip is the split strut will be the (very sweet) icing on the cake. They were already super stable anyhow.

March/April and yes.... same sizing. Rumour has it that they might add another size like a 7m for example. Give the guys at Boardcrazy a call, they will tell you more.

I have posted a youtube review from 'real' kiteboarding in North Carolina. Go see the review section on seabreeze.

They have introduced a 9m this year as well as the normal RPM sizes. Additionally the 2011 RPM's have a split strut system.

I am a over size Old kiter into wake style, level unhooked backroll, S bend, just trying bar pass's, I have 10,12,14 mtr RPMs for what I do there the best, I use the smallest Bar u can get without cutting, on all sizes with 23 mtr lines, the back lines r connected to the back loop on the 14, the second back loop on the 12, and third back loop on the 10, the 10 and 12 turn about the some speed, the 14 is a bit slower it is a little slow but remember it is set up on a 23mtr lines on a very small bar. still a great kite for light winds wake style!! it out floats (in the air) any kite by far!! so u do not get it falling out of the sky. If you r looking at the 14 for surf then I would think for it size using the standard bar it would be a great kite.
hope this helps

Ps; we have wind tomorrow

RPM is GO
One lonely 9M 2011 RPM arrived today.
Available for demo anytime you can get ur hands on it.

We also have a few 2010 RPM's which we will be looking to clear prior to delivery of our initial 2011 order.
Still not sure when follow up stock will be arriving but we need some demo rider feedback so we can get some idea of what we need to order.
OS forum reviews are all good but I like to hear what ppl I know have to say.
And YES - they are split strut construction.
Packed in an eye-opening, fire-engine red kite bag - very flash.

ps - too busy to even do an inspection today. Will try to get a bit of an 'out-of-the-bag' reaction and maybe some pics up tomorrow. Check the gear reviews.

In my humble opinion...
Unless you are looking at regularly needing bottom end-abilty (eg places like Broome where there is regular winds of 11 to 13 kts but rarely any more) you are better off going smaller.
There is little difference in bottom end between a (well flown) 12M an its equivalent 14M, or even bigger, brother. You may have to work a little harder and stay in tune with your kite more but a faster moving small kite should produce the same sort of bottom end result as a more sluggish big moffo of a kite. Its difficult to use kite skills to extend the low end on the big suckers.

And consider too how performance pans out once the wind gets up above the bottom end range. The smaller kite just keeps getting better - the moffo is still a slug that pulls like a truck.

just my 2c's (and I used to love my big kites)

Just an honest question:

Isn't an 'open C kite' actually a 'bow kite?'

Right, Ill get me coat then [}:)]

No, both the RPM and C4 are SLE kites, The RPM has a more open canopy than the C4 and are a little more grunty, Both are SLE C kites and are more for intermediate riders, In the smaller sizes I like them better than any C as they are more stable and dont flog you so much due to rider error in strong winds

Dont know if you have tried a 14m Rally but this kite does not pull like a typical 14m kite. Used so far comfortably up 23knts at 83kg's it de powers nice and in lighter wind turns like a 12m.

Yep - its fantastic. Looks great pumped up and taking up huge amounts of floor space.

Seriously though - No. Fully intended to pump up a 2010 beside it today and give them a thorough comparison check but was just too busy. Will get onto it asap. From single inspection there doesnt appear to be much obvious change apart from the split strut construction. There may be a lot more, not so obvious upgrades, when side by side. Pity we cant check it exactly size for size but the 9M is a new size release.
In the shop it looks like the wing tip struts may be longer ? The bridles possibly shorter ? But difficult to say when its off the beach and not having a comparison beside it.
Demos booked solid for the weekend so should get some 'real' reports on what really counts (ie how it flys) out next week.

No I havent Jas. I havent even tried the 12M. My pick of the litter (before I was a shop owner) was a 10M & 8M and even then have only used my 10m about 4 times.
The owner of the only 12M we have sold in Perth is absolutely stoked with his kite so Im not surprised to hear you are happy with a 14M. Not surprised either to hear they fly way more user-friendly than older 14M kites. They are an all-round user friendly kite. Awesome.

OK - we pumped up a 2010 8M and spooned it to the 2011 9M.
Results:
- because of the different 8>9 size diff its impossible to tell for sure if the bridle has been moded but if it has it is minimal. Still the same pulleys and geometry.
- panel construction (but not shape or size) has been modified. Couldnt tell if they have been tightened or flared but internally stitched shapes are different.
- scuff guards are 2 piece (like the Rally) rather than one strip covering both LE & strut.
- apart from split strut build everything else appeared the same.
- 2011 retains the 2 front freestyle/wakestyle pigtail options and still has 4 pigtails for turning and bar pressure at the backline end.
- bar is the same piece of beautiful engineering as last year.

We will do an equal size comparison as soon as new stock arrives. There may well be differences undetectable until its a 'same same' comparison.

One interesting crossover design provision is :-
the 8M comes with a 17cm bar - 20M lines
the 9M comes with a 17cm bar - 23M lines
the 10M comes with a 20cm bar - 23M lines

I wonder why it isnt a 20cm bar with 20M lines?
Wouldnt you just love the job R&Ding all these possible options

Anyhow - how it performs is what its all about so come and try it in the real world.

Strange! For the sake of 3cm I would have thought same size bar for the lot of them.

Also what's with 20m lines standard? What happened to 20m be "short" lines?
