At the end of the day peeps we are always in the hands of mother nature in this sport. If it postponed then so be it. If it's cancelled then so be it. If it on in any direction then so be it. The organisers will be doing their best to make it happen but if the wind is crap it's not their fault blame huey.
Unfortunately you can not please everyone in a situation like this when your at the hands of mother nature so when the descision is made that will be it so don't bloody whinge.

looking at forecast twice a day now...fingers crossed for some wind at least...

eneour, If the wind has any easterly component (off shore at Leighton) I think the the race will be cancelled/postponed.

I dont want to jinx the race but does anyone know what will happen if the race doesn't go ahead this Saturday??? I looked through all the conditions of entry etc but couldn't see anything about if the race has to be re-scheduled.

When will competitors be advised??

Thanks

Have they got a few numbers for the course racing on Sunday?

My prediction is for a 18-20knt SSW to hit Rottnest sometime around 2:30 whereas Leighton will, at best, only get a 10-15knt very gusty Southerly that may tend more SSE and much later in the day, possibly around 4:30 if the current forecast holds true

I'd be interested to know what WAKSA prescribe as the minimum winds conditions required to race

Such an awesome event, of course there is a high causing drama's.... the one day.
Well fingers and toes crossed for a change, I'd say the 17th is looking the better option unless the event is run in the morning in the ESE.....nice upwind race.

Really? Will u check with YJL or WAKSA first?
I REALLY REALLY WANT THIS RACE to happen but I don't think it's gonna? Is the 17th really an option? So this means there's hope! Woohoo!

We have no choice but to get on the plan in the morning
With no offical word from the organisers, it is way to early to make a call ourselves, tickets booked and paid for etc. So unfortunately we just got turn up on the day.
Anything can happen, I think today ended up being better than forecast!

I also think there is hope = forecast was **** today, it ended up blowing 20+ knots in Rotto
(www.weatherzone.com.au/station.jsp?lt=site&lc=9193&list=ob)

hopefully, it will be the same on saturday :0)

If the forecast doesn't change then the organisers will have to error on the side of caution but I hope it goes ahead this Saturday just for the kiters that are flying in for the event. Personally I'd rather take my chances on another day and hopefully have decent wind and an exciting fast race.

Don't get sucked in by the 20kn you see at Rotto either, remember Rotto is 19km from the coast and the seabreeze often blows out there but doesn't reach the coast.

If the easterly gets up you can kite on the river at say Peli or Point Walter and if you haven't brought a TT along PM me and I'll loan you mine.

had a email from the event organiser

the main part of that email!!!

A decision will be made at 5pm on Thursday and emailed to all competitors around this time. As well a post by the official WAKSA Seabreeze avatar will be made to this effect. NB: If the race does not proceed an alternate date for the competition will be provided, working to be, at this time, Sunday 18th December, TBC.

If it doesn't go ahead, id say there could be a secondary market for entries from participants who cant make the second race on the 18th

I wonder what an entry in the L2L would fetch on the buy and sell section of seabreeze/gaybay/gaytree.

Id hate to see a place go into the hands of someone who isn't experienced in kiting, that's all.

If we cant get a start up on Saturday,

33knots on Sunday the 18th it is then

For the non-local kiters here is a snapshot of the wind today which shows what could happen Saturday. S or SW at Rotto but E or SE on the coast (off shore)

Swany is just north of Leighton
