An extract from the "boardroom news" on www.aksa.com.au

From a phone conference meeting of the AKSA board on Monday 31th May 2010.

Submissions had been received from two parties requesting hosting rights to the season 2010/11 AKSA National Titles Events. After careful consideration of the online applications and thorough investigation of all supporting documentation provided it was resolved that the events be split between the applicants.
2011 AKSA National Freestyle & Racing Titles be awarded to the Townsville based applicants with the events to be run at Alva Beach QLD.
2011 AKSA National Wave Titles be awarded to the Victorian applicants with the event to be run at Warrnambool Vic.

Dates & full details will be posted here on www.aksa.com.au as each phase of organisation is completed.
Congratulations to both applicants. Judging by the quality of the applications Australia can expect to see yet another step up in the standard of national competition organisation this coming season.

Looks like it runs over a financial year. Maybe you can clear this up for me but this is how I view it. So yes 2010 will be in 2011. Honestly!! Is this how it is going to be? Trying our asses off and getting smart ass remarks about the date. Why not suggest or comment with positive ideas for our sport.

Ha Ha - welcome to the 'make urself a target club'. You should try running an AGM and try to get the year right - yeah right

The kiting year runs from 1st Oct to 30th Sept. So technically everything related to the upcoming season should be prefaced with 2010/11 regardless of whether it is run in Oct 2010 or anytime thru to Sept 2011.
I think AKSA have edited the post on www.aksa.com.au to the more cumbersome 2010/11 to avoid any confusion.

magilla, seems highly likely you took michel the wrong way. From the limited few times met her she seems really nice and considering she's an awesome surfer its likely she was interested in the events and didn't want to miss it if there was going to be one this year. I was wondering the same until it was asked.

You crew are making me smile Glad to hear that there is a buzz happening about the comp. Dont forget to pack your drinking boots If you interested there is a group we have started on facebook called S.W.K.K. (South West Kite Krew), and before anyone points it out I know how to spell. Ha. We just like being a little left of centre. Its fat spelt with a ph. Feel free to also befriend any of the admin people to.

Anyway off to buy a new kite as the waves last night destroyed my 14meter. Maybe kiteing in the dark was not such a great idea.

Gee your name is very familiar. Reckon we might have surfed together years ago. Anyway NE to NW is offshore. Wind this time of year is gusty usually howling from either nw to sw. In Feb the trend is usually glassy in the morn with light n ne winds followed by a se sea breeze anyware from 1100 to 1300. Last year most of the se winds only came in 10 to 15 knots. This will be cross on shore. The se sea breeze can often be up to about 25 knots in Feb. For some reason (only knowen to hewey) if this is not the case over the comp dates you could probably expect strong n ne tending w sw late in the day. Usual air temp is 25 to 35 degrees in Feb. If the wind is offshore over the comp we can still hold the comp as coastguard will have boats out the back. There is a couple of flat water spots around Warrnambool but the majority of the kiteing is done in waves. In Feb I would not expect to see massive swell but probably 4 to 5 foot heavy beachies. Cause you know the area Johnno we are hoping to hold comp at Logans Beach(Japs).
Hope this answered you question.
Maybe your memorie is better than mine cause now it is bugging me where I know your name from.
Stay cool. Mark Gavin

Hi Mark
Thanks for putting your hand up to stage the event.
Which I'm looking forward too.
Is the SE a natural or goofy tack?
As Robe last year the SE was a goofy footers advantage.
regards glenn

Most likely to be goofy foot advantage but will depend on banks. Usually out front of the viewing platform there is a channel with a lefthander of one side and a right hander of the other. The beach faces directly south out into bass straight. Thanks for the kind words but can assure you not on my pat malone. Got a good tight knit group down this way
