I have chance to get a 2009 Naish Cult in the sale at $1800 or buy the new $2200 one at $2200. I'm a relative beginner to kitesurfing and wondered if anyone has any idea of the improvements between these models and if anyone thinks they are worth paying $400 extra.

Why go with the Naish-particularly at those prices quoted-it's a design off the path of others-and there's better kites out there that cost less with better warranty back up.
2009 Cult the kite is amazing but the bar have a little problem in case of safety release.
2010 Cult is very similar to 2009 Helix and the bar is amazing.
If you wanna save money and be safe get a 2009 Cult (Perfect for beginners, I mean PERFECT) and a 2010 bar.

You can get a 2009 Helix with a 2010 Naish Haze for the full RRP. Ask your local naish dealer about it.
