So I have a 9m 2012 Ozone C4 with a leak in the LE bladder. Haven't fully diagnosed the leak yet...just noticed massive deflation in yesterday's session.

I also happen to have in my shed a spare bladder for my 12m 2011 Ozone C4. Ozone recalled the original bladders back in 2012...I just got my replacement and figured I'd wait until the original one actually failed to replace it. That has never happened, so I still have this spare bladder for my 12m.

My question is this - will it work alright to put that oversized bladder in my 9m kite? Seems like it should be ok...although a bit more risk of getting twisted with the extra material in there.

Thoughts?

Yes it will work, I have done this from 13m bladder to a 12 m kite and did not have any problems.

Check you didn't just have sand in the screw in valve thingy, happens a bit with ozone kites.

a 3m difference is big IMO the strut valves probably won't line up correctly and may crease the bladder, but could be worth a try...?

During those years the ozones had a problem with the main valve leaking around it's base as well as the screw cap being too loose which is why they did a recall about those and started replacing with red valves (instead of the original black one). Spray soapy water around the valve and find out where it's leaking from exactly.

Not really advisable if there is any movement of valves you can get a herniation though the leading edge when you inflate. It's not big deal putting a bigger strut bladder in because the excess will be at the end of the strut so you can fold over. But you are going to have excess bladder both sides of valves that will connect to the struts. This will make lining everything up a ball ache and 2011/12 c4 are painfull enough as you have to get the bladder around a 90 degree angle as it is.
Get the right size from you local ozone dealer if they don't have in stock they can still order a full set from m ozone they take about 10 days to arrive

Thanks to all who replied, especially cbulota who was spot on. Some soapy spray made it obvious the leak was at the valve. I had an extra black valve in the repair kit for my 7m 2012 C4. Swapped it with the faulty red one, leak seems to be gone. Problem solved and didn't have to mess around with the bladder at all!

So cbulota - thanks much mate! You kitestock bound?? If so, I will more than gladly buy you a couple of beers up there!

No worries glad I could help and that it was an easy fix for you. No kitestock for me this year, some one has to stay and teach all these students!
