hay guys iam just about ready to bye my kite {and stop useing my mates] iam after advice on the 07 waroo 13 m and 07 turbo diesel both the same size and around the same money some last miniute advice would be good iam around 95 100 kgs cheers
Gday,
Im not pretending to be any more than competent (some may argue that point) and have only used the Waroo, not the TD. I got a 9m and 13m 07 Waroo after flogging my Ebay bought C kites for more than they were worth.
I found the Waroos really forgiving and they've taken all the punishment I've thrown at them and they're holding up beautifully. They are my first new, current kites but I'm sold.
Cheers.
Jeff Tobias has just left SS and all his gear is on Ebay, he was selling brand new TD3's for $1000, here is the link, I am sure he has still got plenty of gear left, these kites have not even been released yet!! Check out his signature boards they look sick.

I wouldnt buy any 2008 gear that has not been officially released by Slingshot.
Remember the links.....
I would go for slingshot over best for the durability.
But best are quite cheap.
If the T3 is coming out - then you might get a t2 quite cheap in the near future
mate the waroos are really nice kites to start out on and will help you progress very fast and it will take you a while to out grow them! the 07 build quality for the waroo is ALOT better then wat people give credit to due to the slack jobs on the 06 waroos. i started on waroos and only traded them in now that im starting to work on handlepasses etc where a C kite works a bit better.
i still have a 13m that is in good nick if your interested mate.. it hasnt bin used too much as i was on my 9m for the majority of the season. the only thing with it is there are 2 or 3 small repairs done from where the kite recieved shell cuts in NZ from the shelley beaches.. but the have been repaired professionally and do not affect the flight AT ALL. its a great kite mate and you wont regret it at all
Well you won't find a faster or easier kite to water relaunch then the T2 and it is also one of the most durable of the bows.
Both are good kites try get a ride on them both and have fun
I got myself a TD2 brand new around 5 days ago. I am a total beginner and all I can say is that I love this kite. It's as hard as nails (I've flown it 4 outof the 5 days I've had it) even though I managed to let it get pounded by a few waves today due to a lull in the wind, it got squashed up into a little ball. I then pull on the lines and it just unfolds and shoots off into the air, I'm wondering how the hell no lines were tangled around the kite and I didn't manage to tear anything, but it sure as hell is durable.
Although I havent flown waroos... The TD2 just feels phenominal to fly, the bar pressure is super light for a 14m apparently and I can tell it just does what I want it to.
It's just an absolutly quality kite, everything seems to be triple stitched etc, the only thing I would say is a negative (and this is being overly picky) is that the pegs used to disconnect the leading edge bladders from the struts sometimes open when for example the kite gets crunched by a wave... hopefully Im not going to do that again, picking my swell more carefully next time
.
Btw, I'm also 95 - 100 kilos and I find that the 14m TD2 gives me awesome windrage, but I usually goto the northern beaches area in sydney and it depends what the wind is like where you are, as a general rule it's a safe but powerful performer between 15 and 20ish knots, although it can also fly as low as in 10 knots and as high as 25 altho as a beginner I realise that is pushing it and Im constantly on the depower ![]()
I personally liked the waroo much better then the td2. Bar and steering pressure is huge on de td2 and you have far less feel on where the kite is. The waroo jumps far easier too and had a nice barpressure.
I would agree with Dave on one thing, make sure you try both the kites for yourself. What works for some, doesnt always work for others, make sure you like the feel of the kite cause you will be riding it.
Joe
Bar pressure is most definantly not huge on the TD2... ur mustve got the TD1 or sumthang, coz I've flown a 7m kite with heavier bar pressure.
well 've once riden TD2 and own 7m 13m WAROO.
i love warooooooo cuz it's just so welllll made~~
imagine you made a mistake that dunk yr kite
which one is cheaper? which one is easier to repair
WAROO anyday of the week. We would not sell or trade a TD for the same money as a Waroo. Waroo for sure.
PM us if you have any questions.
tried the 07 waroo. loved it. i used the 06 waroo... loved it. liked the 06 TD... until i tried a waroo. depends on what you want the kite for.... my mate Grant has the TD1 and loves it for waves but not for anything else. unless the 07 TD is way better than the 06 i'd SOOOOO pick the 07 waroo for learning.
the TD feels wierd especially coming from c kites.. the waroo feels more like a C kite. build quality of the 07 waroo is better than the 06 but still found the 06 build quality quite good.
i don't think much of the slingshot sle kites. they should stick to doing what they do best... making damn good c kites.
