Just curious, with all this mention of Vicco sailing clubs now including Kites, has anyone approached similar clubs in sydney??
The St Georges club has a number of skiffs, which sail a similar suited course that kites do.
Would make it easy for starts and course setting??
I think there has been talk but no action. Surely St George or the GRSC or even Yarra bay would have an open class which they would be more than happy for us to join. The more regular racing the better! :D
Ill pm you :)
Hi Guys
Last week Wednesday I was in the GRSC having dinner with a friend and had some time to kill so I asked the CEO if we could join the YA through them. She was not sure so said she would speak to the Commodore.
He called me back yesterday and told me we could. We have to be members of the club (a Ten Dollar fee). Then go to there website and fill in The application form for YA when you get to the point where it asks for the class of boat you must write Kite Racing. This will get us a YA number and the cost is $60. He did explain that we may be force to join other clubs and have to join the YA again. Apparently he has had to join the YA 4 times because of the different location and classes he sails.
I also mentioned that there are people who would like to do proper racing under ISAF regs with water starts ect. He said there is a possibility that we may be able to join another class but he needs to see the regulation we sail under. I will try and get these docs to him by Monday. If anyone else is interested please PM me or give me a call
count me in.
Im a YA member i just need to change my club details.
If there are kiters (with no race background)
i'd be more then happy to run a "rules session" as to keep the other boat sailors and our fellow kiters safe.

I sail at St George currently and GRSC on the odd occasion as well.. I'll quiz a few of the sailing management guys down there about it on the weekend and see what they say...
They have a big storage shed at StG so it could be a place to stash my new kite gear without my misses seeing it...
