whats everyone thoughts on carving the swell and waves. iv only used the one size mast. would a shorter mast (24) be quicker and more snappy rocking from one side to another.
i feel like it would be better on a short mast but more chance of breaching.
or would the longer mast (35) be better.
sorry if is a restarted question
I haven't started foiling in waves yet, but a few people on other forums have spoken about 70cm being a good compromise between being able to use in shallower locations and pitch stability.
In my experience, 55cm is too small, I spend all my time breaching as I travel down the wave face.
Currently riding a 70cm mast and that seems to work well for me. Short enough that I can manage shallow conditions.
Longer mast equals a more docile and forgiving ride. If you're on a hoverglide the 24inch sucks after riding the standard 35 odd inch mast. It has a lot more tolerance for riding waves and big chop... It takes time to get to that understanding of hoverglide. But it's a foil that you'll one day appreciate and respect as it's the goods as a alrounder and learner/progressive set up. Ps disclaimer.. I have no affiliation with slingshot besides they have a lot of my money in their bank! Dam straight

Haha love the disclaimer.
im actually using the ride engine surf foil at the moments. It's fun a weapon but comes standard with a 24" mast. It must be better for a surfboard with no kite pulling you.
Its fun in the waves but I do find I have to be super mindful of breaching.
ill get a longer mast in the next few weeks I think.
disclamer: I do ride for slingshot ![]()
Kempo I just got the 30 inch from Josh, it's perfect for chop and waves here in the bay. And will Bolt right onto your set up. What wing are you using? Disclaimer I love Slingshot gear.
Josh is the man!
The ride engine futura surf foil. Don't quote me but I think it's the same as the slinggy H2 surf foil. It has so much lift at low speed. You don't even need to plane to get on the foil haha, just straight up and your foiling.
Super slow, but the progression with tacks, and doing weird **** is outrageous because you don't have to super fast haha.
