Im new to kite racing, although not new to kitesurfing, and have sailed at just about all levels so looking forward to getting into kite racing. So to the guys/girls that have been doing it a while, whats your set up?

Kite:19m x19 spleene , 2012 north rebel 13 m , 2012 north fuse 9m ,

Board: 2012 ,190 naish Venturi

Fin set up: standard 38cm ATM , will order a set of 43-45 cm rista fins before the start of the next season.

Line Length: standard

what are the Rista fins worth? waiting time?
You should also try the North 69' its pretty bloody fast!

What are you using...

Kites: 17mtr and 15mtr ozone edge 2012 and 12mtr and 9mtr north rebels 2012

Board: north 69' 2011 an just ordered the 2012 north '69

Fins: 38cm and 40cm north g10's.

Line length: standard

Board:Just got my airush sector 60 v3 in mail today.

Kite: Haven't got race kite yet. will try my airush one 12m at kailua tomorrow.

Fin: quad, front 24cm back22cm.

lines: 25m

will be my first setup for learning. wish me luck.

Kite: ROYAL Rush 19m, 16m, 12, 9m

Board: SPOTZ custom, 180x69cm (www.spotz.fr)

Fin set up: trifin all at 40.5cm, custom made full carbon with shape similar to Select Race fin

Line Length: ROYAL factory racing bar set up = 4:1 depower and 33m lines (no extensions)

Fin set up: Standard

Line Length: TBA

Hope to get out this weekend if there is some wind around, and start learning to tack a kite board.

Kite: 8m Airush Lithium, 10m Core GTS and 12m Ikon Peak (not mine yet but soon ?!)

Board: Sector 60 one design

Fin set up: Standard

Line Length: Standard

Me too I hope to get out this weekend to learn to tack. Went twice in the water with my Sector since I had it and lovin it!

I am using:

Kite: 10m, 13m and 17m Airush Varial X Race

Board: North Race Ltd 2011 69' (last year's big white one), until the new Airush Monaro arrives

Fins: 2x42cm front, 1x40cm rear standard North

Line Length: 29 or 32m (haven't decided what to stick with yet)

Nice session with a few others out on the river today. Plenty of Sectors out there.

Kites: 8.5m Flexifoil ION 4 2010, 12m Fuse 2012, 18m Dyno 2011

Board: 2012 Naish Venturi 183 x 65 x 9.5 (learner board)

Fins: 38cm standard Naish

Lines Standard.



Once I can complete all my Jibes and Tacks I will start looking towards a more competitive setup for the board, fins and smaller kite.

Has anybody started to modify bar and lines in Australia to sheet in and out without reaching?

Board: 2011 Cabrinah

Fins: NFI- 24cm i believe

Lines: 45m

Started to nail a few tacks. Having a few issues holding full power down with board control.. Practice i guess..

45m lines ...holy mackeral ..

Looking to get a regular racing series going on the northside of Brisbane for those intrested , need to work out finer details with one or two of the local yacht clubs.
