Stumbled upon this on YouTube , seems like a good concept , would not be difficult to build something like this out of honeycomb carbon and keep it under the 5.5 kgs ,and keep it stiff ,and as strong as hell.
Would be a breeze for traveling especially on a plane with a hard case .
Also if by some chance you did damage the board ie damage a fin box smacking the ground or a turtle , you theoretically would only have to replace that section of board.
Also check out how you can assemble the board without the centre section , (think that may be the 2 smaller fins in the case ).., you could have a optional narrower centre section with a centre fin box for slalom racing ...... 2 or 3 boards in one.
Heeeeeey - Now there's an idea!
Just seal the gaps with a line of tape to stop air leaking through from the top (like they do with glider wings) and BAM! Super cool convertible board.
I'd buy one... Maybe i should take a table saw to the NJS?
