OK so I've been on a hoverglide for a while now and noticed I was only getting around 25km/ph out of it. So after my third session on my lift osprey setup I seem to be getting the same speed. I did hit 29 on S down wind run, but was wondering is it my technique.
Set up front strap(mono) and foot hook.
Any advice or thoughts would be cool

Hi mate. I'm on a Slingshot Dwarfcraft and Hoverglide similar to your set up. They are a slow to medium speed foil at best I think. I have got up to some solid speeds on mine though and this has generally been on a downwind (broad reach) run.

I noticed you have your foot strap quite a way back. I ride strapless, and when I'm feeling well balanced on the board, my toes are touching the front Slingshot logo (spikey circle thingy). I have an older Dwarfcraft to you, so maybe the logo is positioned in a different spot on your board. It just seems like your front foot would be way too far back - for me anyway.

Duke, thanks for your thoughts, not sure if the logos are in the same place or not, I think they might be. That's as far forward as I can go with the (mono) strap set up.
I did get the lift foil going faster down wind on the third session.
Looks like its time to man up and lose the strap. (my history is around 5 years on a strapless directional).
I have noticed in most slingshot clips there team riders front foot seems to be further up the board.
Here's a pic of the board I think mine is further forward.
Cheers
Grant

Yep, I can see the logo on your board is further forward than mine now that I can see the full board.

Have you tried more power?
Like 8m in 15-20knots

Plummet, when you mention an 8m what specific style of kite do you mean?
Some are far better suited to foil kiting than others.

I'm on the wave sst's I use an 8 and 10.
Yes I've had a couple of sessions on the 8 around 17-20knts but didn't seem to notice any massive speed improvement.
I must say I'm probably only around 30 hours on the clock at a guess.
Contemplating removing the front strap to move the stance forward.
The lift foil is currently at the 3rd mark on the dwarf craft.
I'm not really interested in racing I just assumed the lift would be substantially faster than the hoverglide.

It dose look like your back foot is far back! Try moving the mast forward. I find this gives me more speed (don't know why). This is what iv found

Thanks Kempo, I've been moving it forward gradually will move it to 4 this arvo. The hook doesn't get used alot now more just to get the board on edge for starts.
You're strapless too are you not?
I need to man up and drop the front strap

I'm using a 3 strut 2012 ozone catalyst. It works real well as foil kite.

Go wide stance. I'm 65cm.

I have been chasing speed over the last few months .... I have found the more speed the more lift generated so you need more weight forward
my back foot is usually just ahead of the mast ( or right above the leading edge ) front foot probably about 48-55cm in front of that.
you obviously need to bare away and allow the speed to build and Ride the foil quite flat and then walk the tightrope that is having enough mast in the water for the foil but as little as possible at the same time to reduce drag.
im using a 10m drifter and a Moses fluente ( a fast free ride wing ) with a a custom carbon free ride board.

Best 30sec speed period
30.8knots / 57kph
in approx 16-18knots

i have tried in higher wind with a smaller kite but the associated chop makes it very difficult to keep a sustained minimal mast depth.

I also ride strapless .... the crashes sometimes hurt and I could not imagine being attached to the board at that speed.
