Hi All,
Found out some details about L2L and KOC today that I'd thought I'd share as there seems to be a bit of confusion as to what's going on this year.
L2L is returning on Saturday 14th December and will now be a part of the overall Kiteracing Oceanic Championships taking place at Leighton Beach in WA from 10-15th December. The new L2L website (www.lighthouse2leighton.com.au) will be live on 1st September and entries received from 1st-31st October. A limited 110 entries (100 male, 10 female) are available for competitors, with secured spots guaranteed to: the first 10 placed racers in 2012, as well as keenly sought sponsor spots. The balance of the field are selected by random ballot at a BBQ draw evening hosted by the Race Directors, Yellow Jersey Strategies and sponsors, Kite Addiction and Cabrinha on Monday 4th November 2013 at Kite Addiction in Myaree. The winning racer's award will be presented at the Kiteracing Oceanic Championships event village on Leighton Beach where racers will finally meet land again after launching from the stunning Rottnest Island. The race entry fee will be as the 2012 race and set at $150.
Although it requires a separate registration, The L2L is just one of the featured events at the KOC, which also features competitions for course racing men, women as well as the exhibition freestyle open (big air/flag down format). The men and women course racing competitions involve a series of 12 minute long qualifying races and the final is a total prize pool of $30,000. Results from the KOC will go towards the world ranking calendar.
The KOC looks pretty sweet if you ask me, and I think if you're keen to do L2L this year why not have a crack at the KOC at the same time?
I think all the details, register to race the Kiteracing Oceanic Championships and to sign up for the newsletter visit www.kiteoceanics.com
