How do you pick the right size kite for racing?
My largest kite size is 11m, which gets up and goes in suitable conditions, but race kites are larger than this and are used by guys lighter than my 89-90kg; what is the guide to getting it right?
Have at least four to choose from, pump them all up on race day then wait till the last minute and use what everyone else uses.
This seams to be the general way a kite is chosen so far unless you like to stick your neck out and choose first ![]()
Bite the bullet and buy more kites. I am also at the 85kgs -90 on a heavy day range. I have a 17, 13 and 9 should be ok. For Perth summer the 17 never gets used. But the last two weeks it has been the only kite used. Once the SB comes in a 9-11 should be ok.
Well I'd have a dozen kites if I could afford it, but with the equipment being a significant investment, it looks like I'll be getting one large kite to begin with.
So the question is to get started, next up from an 11m, do I get a 17m a 19m or bigger, or smaller even?
I was thinking about a 17m like you say Inthezone, but just need to feel confident in my decision.
always start bigger and go smaller from there adding smaller sizes. you can hold a lot of power on RB and its better to learn in lighter winds.
Have they done away with the kite size rules which broke the sizes up into sections and you were only allowed to register one kite in each section?
