Hi race guys,

There is a cheap 2009 North Race Ltd - 153 cm for sale.... somewhere!

I assume it's cheap because it's a poor board? Anyone had first hand experience? Is it slow, or unstable?

It's in my price range, hoping for a <$600 entry to race boards, but under $500 would be better!

Anyone suggest something better for that kinda money?

Technology has changed so quickly that old boards, no matter the design are behind the pack. Having said that for at least 6 months - it wont matter, as you will need to learn the riding style first anyway. I think the Underground is the best old board to start with, but any board will get you started to practice riding the board flat, jybing and tacking.

+1
I rode the Underground last season, It's an easy board to ride, especially downwind.

I'll be selling a 2011 north 69' soon when my 2012 comes in. I'm sure you'll be able to pick up pre 2011 boards cheap but the board development has come on leaps and bounds since. So I'd suggest a 2011 board. There are still alot you can pick up quite cheap.

I've put a deposit on brand new cabrina 2011 183cm race board. $750. Seemed like a bargain.

Can't wait to join the racing crew. I watched a guy head out yesterday in light winds with a race board and rebel 13. He was off to a wobbly start and then I got busy with my son. Tried to find him 20 mins later and couldn't see him anywhere. Next thing I can see this tiny shape about 2kms upwind, right out in the bay.
