Hey racers.

Has anyone moved back to using a seat harness over a waist harness?

My back is getting a drilling when I am on a race board and I think with a lower center of gravity I might get more control with my legs?

I will still keep my waist harness for when I go out on my TT (rare these days)

What do you think?>

Hey mate, you 100% need a seat harness. God knows how you have lasted without one. The seat harness will do exactly what you think and lower your Centre of gravity and force to your hips and that will help you alot. It will also help as you lean in that it doesn't unbalance the kite anywhere near as much. You'll never go back once you get one.

its personal preference. some of the top guys use seat and some waist harnesses.
Just try some different ones and see how it feels and performs for yourself, maybe even a transformer harness.

I recently (couple months) changed from waist to seat. I can hold down more power with the seat and get slightly better speeds. Felt like starting again with tacks though, but getting there. My experience is that seat is better for racing now that I have changed.

for myself a seat work slightly better upwind because you can hang in there a bit deeper but waist works better downwind.

Question is are races decided down- or upwind?

What seat harnesses are you using?

Back in the early 2000's when I was learning to kitesurf. I used the most uncomfortable seat harness known to my ballsack. Are they better thesedays?

What is a good place to start my usual kite shop does not have many/any seat harnesses to look at/try.

Dont think i would agree with that^^^^^ 100%

Adam Koch seems to go OK in his waist harness

I think getting/giving advice on what harness someone should use is like getting/giving advice on what shoes are going to feel most comfortable on your feet.

So the only way to tell is get out there and try them. If you can find someone that is already using one at the beach then hit them up for a go or go and see you local retailer and hit them up to let you demo one.

what ....don't you think technology has improved at all since 2000??????? all you have to do is compare a 2000 model kite or board or even bar to a 2012 model...
