Where Do we think the best place to race is in Perth Metro?

How about if I organise Wednessday evenings on the river for training? then I am going round all of the yacht Clubs asking each one to host one Sunday race in the season. Ideally I would like a race one Sunday a month. That should mean that We get at least two ocean races and three or four river races.

This is all a work in progress at the moment with the biggest issue being water space on the river. All sanctioned events on the river must go to a committee to be agreed to confirm space is available and does not clash with other water users.

Inaddition Fremantle Sailing Club have made the provision for Kite Racing in their Sail Fremantle Regatta, The provision at this stage is that kites will have a separate start but race on the same Windward Leward course as the 49ers and Musto Skiffs.

If any one has any advice or wants to help out please give me a shout.

Steve

South Coogee near camping ground has the best water and most consistant winds for kite racing in Perth Metro area. IMO the river is only good( fantastic) in winds with East in them.

Personally I wil Be training at South Coogee 90% this year - It's amazing from 5 to 15 knots.

Thats my 10 cents worth

I like the idea of the river, seems fairly central for something most people will need to get to after work.

The more shifty winds will only make a better kite racer.

Safety bay yacht club has had some races last year the conditions are really good as well (on average 20+knots) during the season

also the club has a starting boat and rescue crew so its a win/win

comes down know to people in higher positions i guess

I set up a google group which can be used to alter all members
Racing is on.
I create the group as a easy and convenient way to advise social racing is on at a location advised on the day.
If anyone wants there name included to advise members you are racing send me an email and I'll include you in the group. Send an email to smaul007@gmail.com
As Johnno advised I'll training at Coogee
Cheers
Sean

South Coogee? I live there, and am interested.

What gear are you using in the 5-15 knots range? Kite and board?
