I have a 104cm slingshot dwarfcraft, but I find it a bit big for traveling. I'm looking to get a 70cm board (with straps) for to travel with. It would need to be fairly strong, as I'm doing jumps (and crashing) a lot.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I contacted kanaha shapes in Maui, but unfortunately he said that his boards weren't strong enough for straps.
Nobile have a split foil board that looks to split into 2 sections of 2'6" or 75ish cm. Might be worth a look, I haven't used one so can't speak for it's quality or how it rides. the Model name off the top of my head is the Infinity split foil or something along those lines.
If someone has tried one and could give a review as well, I'd be interested to read what its like!
Im surprised that 104cm seems to big to travel with. I just started using a 120 board which I take down the beach in a Mystic travel bag and it fits easily along with the rest of my gear. Or does pocket board mean it actually fits in your pocket?
I think under 1000mm is limit for checked luggage before it gets to oversized and some airlines charge an oversized fee.
This is what ****s me as someone who travels a lot. Got a big heavy bag of golf clubs? No problem. No charge, even though they are on maximum weight. Got a surfboard/snowboard/whatever craft you ride, chances are you are going to get hit along the way. There is so much inconsistency to this rule that no matter what you do, there are always going to be a little surprise or two on a multiple flight journey.

Interesting. This might just work. I will email them and ask for exact specifications. If it's not too wide, it might just fit in a normal suitcase... although it is 4.7kg... my current board is 3kg, and (altogether) I am currently at around 25kg with my bags. So this might not work, as I need to get it even lighter (which I was hoping to do through buying a smaller board).

That is exactly the reason why I am looking to get a 70cm board :-) I am completely fed up and just want everything to go inside a normal suitcase that never gets flagged by any airport staff who don't know what their own rules are.
My 155g plastic surf helmet got destroyed a month ago because it was "too dangerous to take on as carryon" so I had to check it. Except my 1kg aluminium laptop with sharp edges and an explosive battery are perfectly fine to take onboard? ****ing ridiculous.

I want to travel with a normal suitcase, not with "kitegear"! This is just for international trips, not for my local surftrips.
Gotcha. The Nobile seems designed exactly for travel but the numerous screw connections all over would turn me off a bit. Surely you could get a custom board built locally to your exact requirements for the same price or less.
As an after thought if you're wanting a board at 700mm because of size restrictions won't that mean you're mast can only be 700mm. The bag that all the Nobile stuff fits in is 950mm.

Yes, I think I will need a 65cm mast anyway as I end up traveling a lot to shallow lagoons and places with reefs.
Very good suggestion on getting something custom made. I will take a look around and see if I can find someone here. Thanks! :-)
I've got the 2018 Nobile splitboard and foil - I've been meaning to get around to posting a review on here, will try and do it this weekend. If you're in Perth then you're welcome to take it for a spin.
I'm messing with a 4.5ft surfboard style foilboard, it fits into a twintip bag and then can use it for surf kiting as well.
Honestly, the Nobile doesn't pack up that small, but if you get their custom bag to fit it in then it is at least luggage size... I got it so that when i sneak kite gear in when travelling for work I just look like i've overpacked, rather than that i'm a lazy indolent bastard who is using his work trips as an excuse for a kiting holiday.
