hey maties, Im thinking of embarking on this crazy adventure in a 30ft river boat with a 33hp Leyland diesel motor... Any words of wisdom invited...Doable? thinks to beware of ? charting advice? cheers

Maybe more response if you post on Forums >scroll down > Sailing.

Do you mean a flat-bottom house-boat? What is your hull limitation? Anyway, Caloundra has a constantly changing bar - you may not get in to the quiet Pumicestone Passage.

thanks Wollemi... not a houseboat but an old a riverboat, flat hull I think, I don't know anything but will be looking up that term hull limitations for sure. looked at some maps of pumicestone passage.... thanks again

Hey Wollemi, don't bother risking a crossing of the Caloundra bar, just pick a nice day and come straight down the front and turn right between Gilligan's and Skirmish Point and then you'll end up in the Southern end of the passage. Maybe stop overnight at Mooloolaba if she's a slow old thing.
