hey a few years ago in my last car (commodore) i could listen to abc tv in my car stereo.
Is this because they simply re broadcast the audio over the radio band and now they dont do it anymore? or was it a feature of the stereo (unlikely I guess - it's just it stopped as soon as I changed cars...)

It was because with analogue TV the soundcarrier for channel '2' was on the FM band in the normal range.

Now, with analogue turned off, you are out of luck.

Does the change of your cars coincide with the switch off of analogue TV in Qld?

Thanks! Thought it might have been something like that.

I think it was before the switch of, but the new stereo might not have gone down so low (I think it was at the bottom of the freq band) and i seem to think the new one might not scan in those steps (i think it was like 96.1mhz or something odd, and the new one seems to scan in .5mhz steps? ) anyway happy to know the reason. I liked it though. could listen to the news etc if on the road.
