I am hoping may be someone can confirm this for me. I sent a large email to my tax agent yesterday. The file is only 9Mb. It was sent successfully as indicated by the messages and it also appeared in the "Sent Items" folder.
Nothing unusual or suspicious there. Then some time later, I received an email from an unknown address, telling me that the file is too big, and that it was sent unsuccessfully. I checked the sender address, and here it is...

I am not able to contact the receiver there and then because he was not at work yesterday and next Monday. So I am wondering if anyone can please confirm if it is a dodgy email or legit at all.
View details of the email & msg me full header info if you want I'll try to take a look. Can't help otherwise. If in doubt at all wait till Tuesday & talk with them. 9mb is a little file these days.
For the record I have heard of someone scammed recently where their entire mortgage amount ie payment for a house was redirected to a fake account & stolen. Lawyers email system or their home computer had to be compromised for that to happen.

Thank you very much for your offer, Kiteboy Dave. Unfortunately, I took the evasive action I usually take dealing with an unusual email, I didn't actually click on it, and I deleted it promptly. I did check the source of the email by inspecting the Properties of it. Yes, 9Mb is not a big, let alone a huge file for mail server to deal with. I shall wait and check with the receiver next week.
Personally I don't think it's a dodgy email or scam, I've had plenty of these postmaster@xxxxxxxx emails - just means something is wrong & their server couldn't accept it.
You don't reply to the postmaster address, just reduce the size of your email & resend.

Yes, its probably legit. A mail server has decided its too big to accept or forward, so it has dropped it and sent an email back to you to tell you.
Even if it were dodgy, its unlikely that it has any links in it anyway, so it should be benign.
Just delete it, and re-send your file, but split it into two using a ZIP program.
