Dutch scientists are making waves-big ones. A new experimental facility at Deltares, a research institute here, has begun producing the largest humanmade waves in the world.

Now if only it was in Australia, and could deal with the backwash. ..

Some bright spark thought surfing should be added as an olympic sport. Can't see it working very well, unless they get one of these to somehow create a rideable 20 second wave in a massive pool. That would ensure there's a consistent and predictable playing field.
