Hi there. I thought since this is a water lover forum I might aswell ask.
We have recently started scuba diving but the costs in Oz are relatively high so does anyone know any cheap Asian or other oversea places to scuba dive?
Cheers

The words "cheap" and "diving" should never appear in the same sentence......but I just did it.

I do a bit in the Philippines between jobs. Plenty of sea life. A lot of the diving spots are marine sanctuary's. Puerto Princessa is the best value I found on Palawan. Dive Puerto princesa are good and Rommel knows hit stuff. Anilao is pretty good too and is a good option close to Manilla.
Good luck

Just walk off the beach... in NSW there are plenty of places where you can start from a beach. Sure you'll get funny looks at more popular beaches. With an inflated BCD you can swim on your back for km's.
Or are you referring to filling the tank? I never found a free way to get to 3000psi, but it costs ~$10 a tank, you can get refill cards that give 20 for $150-200.

Awesome Diving and perfect for new divers ( like me )
About $60 for a day on the boat , all gear, lunch, guide and 2 dives.

I dived on the supposed best dive on Bali. Shore wreck on the north side. I didn't even bother going in for the second dive. Then I speared/ snorkeled from a yacht from Bali all the way to Thailand. I wasnt in the best diving in thailand, probably the second best area. still very poor.. Fxcked ocean and a warning to us. If you guys think that's good you really should check out yr own country. Try the yongala and te GBR

South Africa is pretty good for a dive, Sodwana Bay was good.
Prices in low season about $280 for a 3 night 5 dive package in own luxury safari hut including all gear, boat rides, and dinner and breakfasts.

We just missed diving with a whale shark when we were there, jumped in the boat and headed to where it was seen, but couldn't find it..

Oh and the best bit is the dive boys, you don't do a thing to touch your own gear aside from final checks you're happy with everything, they literally rig you and strip it off afterwards and deal with it.
