After years of research the winners are.
Third place.
Woodburn cafe, Woodburn. We are only talking about curry beef pies here, and the Woodburn cafe has some of the best in the land. The pies are actually made at Croki bakery and shipped in. Brilliant.

Second place.
Nabiac Bakery. Curry beef again. Sublime. Buy one or two, and off to the motorcycle museum. Or not. The pies are enough to divert you from the highway.

First place.
Unknown origin. The curry pies that are sold at Scott's Head bakery are the best this author has tasted. Prime beef with a healthy dose of curry and delicious pastry. The origin is actually one of the Macksville bakeries nearby. If anyone has more information please enlighten us.

N.B. The author has spent years investigating the above subject and doesn't expect any accolades for his extensive research. Such is the lot of a seeker of truth.

Excellent report and detailed information.
I am not as big a fan of the curry pie as some of the other species which can be found in the bakery.
Living in west oz we have several a grade bakeries however they are spread across the state.
The best pie I had over east is at the pie shop on the way to Currumbin from Kirra it's on the corner about half way... In wa no one does a proper Ned kelly pie the bacon egg one every bakery over east has...
When I go to Queensland I live on these pies at breakfast for my whole stint.

If you are on the road in Queensland you can't go past a Beefy's pie and you get every tenth one free.

When I am at home I pull a Herbert Adams Thai chicken curry pie out of the freezer and give it 45 minutes in the oven. Yummm!!

These conclusions drawn from more than 50 years of dedicated research.

Good on ya mate, bloody excellent report. Im driving back to brissy next wednesday and will give the scotts head curry pie a go (ive never even concidered curry pie as a option classifying it the same a chicken on pizza, a affront to god).

The Thai Chicken curry pie from the bakery in the middle of the Perisher Valley ski complex is worth the trip.

Looking forward to my next trip to the mid-North coast.
