I have to buy special "wide load" boots for myself, the wife also takes an extra wide size, and the kid, it's just impossible to buy shoes wide enough for her. I've found some on US and Canada sites but they don't deliver to Australia.
I know there's a couple of podiatrists on this page, so would anyone be able to point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Feeling for you PJ, suffer the same problem with wide flippers myself.
Jim kids sports stock New balance shoes which do extra width shoes, I'm about 4E - 6E
In hiking shoes the brand "Keens" do extra wide shoes.
My most comfy shoes are my work boots, can wear all day day after day and no issues, regular footwear still gives me grief.

You guys are lucky you don't ski... or maybe you do. Ski boots for wide feet are a pain to find. Pun intended.
There is nothing like coming down a run with your feet aching because the boots are too narrow. If your kid can wear heat molded ski boots I can offer a solution, but otherwise .... no. And I am not even a 4E!

Cook your boot shells in the oven for 10 mins, liners on your feet with nice thick socks, into boots and tighten. Stand in them for a few mins and them walk out into the snow to set them. Voila, heat molded boots.

Japanese peps tend to have short, wide feet, and New Balance are a popular shoe there, so good recommendation. You could try Mizuno shoes too.
I tried New Balance, couldn't get them online, tried the shop who said try online, called the main office who said they can't help. They make extra wide but only sell in the US and Canada but don't ship to Australia. Inov8 might be a goer, although they only do one kids shoe and they're light on stock. I've already tried just about every shop in Perth. Jim Kidd. Hype. Adidas. Athletes foot. Clarke's. Shoes and sox. And a bunch more. Gadean footwear in Malaga will make leather shoes to fit but that's kinda expensive, and not really what a little girl wants.

I can't tell if you are joking or not. Some of the shells can work like that and others can't.
I got fitted for a pair of Fischer heat moldable boots, where they heat them up and then 'vacuum' them down to size, which is really just pressurized air in a cuff around the boot. They fit perfectly.
I found the shells to be too flexible as they were a comfort fit, bought some more sturdy ones online and then did essentially what you said above. I fit the liners first, and once they were set, did the boots. Again, a perfect fit and the best pair of boots I have owned.

Have you tried ebay.com? I just checked and it seems like finding them is easy and shipping to aus is no problem, at least in the test I tried: 'new balance wide'.

Thanks.
But it's the extra wide I need.
The wide isn't wide enough.
Thongs
good point. Just send the kid to a school where shoes are optional.

Not sure that's the type of thong he is thinking of...
It used to be that European Brand footwear was narrower than US or Aust. Brands so forget the adidas ,Puma etc.
