Just send all the positive cases over the border into WA, they have still got closed borders so it can be contained with the desert sand people and not affect the real Australian civilized community that matter.![]()

Last I heard WA were impressed and motivated by the Trump style wall............... so there you go, thats how brainy Mark McGowan is if he is inspired by Trump![]()
I dont think the rest of Australia even knew who the premier of WA even was, lol, till the desert border closure that stopped the other states kicking all the wicked camper vans over that way.![]()

A social response for a few individuals versus the greater good.. Crock (a lot of it).
Proximity to hospitals on health grounds.... really.. try telling that to the poor crew on the ground in numerous age care facilities - They were totally proximate but not allowed to be moved in Sydney and Melbourne - the staff did not want to go to work.. Where my mum died (QLD) during lock down the only person with PPE was the doctor = 1 in 76 people providing front line support. The rest gloves and hand sanitizer - I took an ALDI dust mask...
Nahh if required they can be airlifted just like a shark attack victim or road accident. Or the Army could do an Afghanistan and setup a field hospital.
For a fair few years I flew out in morning (Brisbane or Adelaide or Perth). In SA either had to drive for 3-4 hours from Moomba or had taxi flight to site - so less time than international flight here. An emergency direct flight would be quicker.
Policing - that is the crux of the issue in a city but not in a remote facility. If you have lived and worked out bush you do not nick out to a corner store - perhaps a billabong. The people placed under quarantine do not really have the mentality of a high security prisoner it is 2 weeks quarantine for a free pass!!
We have already used Christmas island we used mining camps now we use city hotels!!! If the un-announced boat people could be passed off to remote facilities before Naru and other offshore camps where setup for months and months with their needs met - If we put our minds to it... it would be fairly straight forward to up the quality of the product.
It is their choice to stay where they are overseas or come back to OZ and quarantine - for the Australians in Australia the more remote this is the lower the risk. Ask a Melbournian - want another slip up? Adelaide is going to cost millions for 1 surface contact and transmission into a capital city and all the ramifications.. If this happens at a camp in the bush?? Over the last few months, the number of people employed to enforce border restrictions between states is huge - why are we following this high risk process??
How ever if it makes a difference being in the thick of things - what is wrong with a cruise ship on a two week site seeing run around the coast - got to be cheaper than another city lock down and.. possible Melbourne experience on repeat until a vaccine is available at the chemist..
As for welfare services aaarrrggghhhh -- no one is knocking on the door saying room service "I am your welfare support officer today.. can I book you a pedicure..." Last year if they were on a return flight how many of them rushed off for welfare support and specialist services (be clean here - medical) on arrival??
Transfer has to happen where ever you are.. There are some big runways not in a capital city... hey why not give them VIP status like a movie star and use a remote section of the airport... Do the customs and any manual baggage check on the other side of quarantine.
Using mainline services with something as slippery as this virus is a recipe for proximity spread because that is the gig for a virus there are way more factories (human bodies) in a city..
Bollocks
Cheers

Guy in NZ managed quarantine thought he'd see what attention was being paid to people in said quarantine and thought he'd go on a hunger strike, handing back full trays of food each meal...
He gave up after 9 days cos nobody gave a f*ck and he was hungry....

I think the numbers of people that are in quarantine would be hard to accommodate anywhere else. There seem to be a huge number of people in hotel quarantine at any one time. (I thought there was a figure of 4000 in one capital alone, or did I get this wrong?) Can we accommodate that anywhere else?
That said, if this became a long term problem, then moving them to somewhere more isolated makes a lot of sense.
Wasn't there an international airport at Toowoomba that was privately built? Send them there.
Are there any places that could accommodate a large number of people that is remote?
It sounds like the existing hotel schemes fail when things get down to details. Maybe the federal government need to mandate minimum levels of control to prevent problems? Is the SA problem a problem caused by someone being cheap and not testing workers as often as they should, or is it poor infection control, or is it something else?
Doesn't seem the service provided in the cities is terribly good. I've a friend currently in quarantine that he is paying for and the food sounds atrocious. Breakfast is a single small yoghurt left at his door, nothing else. Even without being able to leave his room and do any exercise, he is losing weight and he's a skinny guy to begin with. Seems some contractor is taking the piss from the government.
Nobody has noticed that the local travel industry is running well below capacity at the moment.
That means a lot of spare hotel capacity and using the rooms for quarantine keeps people in work.
What I don't get is why the cleaners etc aren't being paid a bit extra for wearing PPE and being very careful. That might reduce the number of them doing second jobs with the increased transmission risk that entails.
Failing the remoting option.. ![]()
as FormulaN states the current numbers trying to return are high but ....
If we could be more pro-active about handling the handlers it would help. Big bonus payments on performance which includes...
If poo sampling gives an early warning heads up then -- (Once you go 50+ it is part of the health service every 2 years ![]()
..) do that every 2 days or get quarantined yourself!!
Thoughts are with Adelaidians!!
