My neighbour got Optus to install internet at their unit, since then I have had no net (two months now)
It appears they have taken my Portal? according to ii-net technician.
Optus refuses to send someone out to fix the issue so ii-net has told me I need to pay for a private technician to come out and fix the issue.
Anybody know anyone or where to find someone who does this work. I live in scarborough.
Cheers
Call the Telecommunications Ombudsman. iinet tried to charge me for fixing a fault in the exchange, but the TIO sorted out a refund.

Your problem is with Iinet. They need to sort it out and TBH Optus will not want to deal with you.

You would probably need to clarify exactly what has happened though, as they could have taken your port at the exchange, or they could have taken some of the cabling in your building. You would think that once a port is allocated to you that someone can't come along and take it.
They have taken my line at the LDF.
iinet have told me I need to get a private contractor to fix it. The iinet technician said my neighour was using my line.

That would be MDF.
So your line (number/DSL service) is at the MDF. There is a cable that has multiple pairs of wires from the MDF up to you floor, and from there they wire individually to each unit. Some times the cable pairs go faulty and there aren't enough for everyone to have a line each. It is a crap thing to take someones working pair of wires for your service at their expense. Or maybe he didn't realise, if you have naked DSL(no Dialtone)
This sounds like what has happened and is hard to prove.
The copper cable in our street is full of water and has few good pairs. It's also full of holiday houses. A few times after a holiday we'll see a telstra van at the pit, and then our phone goes noisy, cross talk and mains hum. we rind westnet, and within a few days it's fixed. Sounds like a similar situation to yours, except the techs don't disconnect us, they just swap us to a noisy line.
I don't see why you should have to pay, your situation is worse than ours and we don't pay. I'd be complaining to somebody that's for sure, and the ombudsmen would be the first port of call.
Yes this is what happened.
I have to pay to take them back though. I have naked DSL.
Thanks been 3 months now.
TELECOMMUNICATION OMBUDSMAN. end of story.
These guys love with respect hearing stories like this. Each time the contact a Telco company it costs the telco $$$. its how the ombudsmen make their living.
They are independant and have no respect for telcos but a lot of respect for your plight and anguish.
Before iinet took over Westnet, Westnet gave great service were very respectful and really all you could ask of any such company.
Then came the take over.
It was like night and day the difference.
One thing I do know is that every complaint to the Ombudsman costs the company $1,000.
Just watch the difference in the way they treat you when you tell them your going ring to call the Ombudsman!!
