Not that its an option, but I wonder where people would choose this time of year if they had the luxury of just happening to be somewhere isolated where they could enjoy themselves without worrying about this stuff?
I was listening to the tv this morning and they mentioned that they are stopping people with RVs and Campers going to Tasmania. No doubt people trying to go somewhere isolated but still allowing a bit of movement. I can't blame them for that and if I were not working I would have been there even earlier, or even somewhere else remote.
Where would a kiter or windsurfer go this time of year?
I wouldn't go anywhere the place will be in lockdown soon. Likewise with Tas , last nights news in QLD stated the West Oz government was going to stop people from the city heading to their country retreats . Reason being to holt the spread in rural areas. also read WA authority's turning Rottnest island into a quarantine area. I don't know how true that is , maybe somebody from WA can inform

Can confirm, I was in Rottnest this past weekend, and everyone was kicked off the island the day after we came back.
This picture was taken on the ferry back home on Monday, and shows the probable reason for wanting to make a large area like Rottnest available.

in a yacht out to sea
You're on the same wavelength as me!
I wasn't asking for options to go to, but dream places to sit it out if you were already there.
I was up at kitesurfari in Qld a few times, and that is one place I wouldn't mind being isolated for a while, at least after the crocs depart ;-)
My go to spot is Rotto. Just had 2 weeks there on a boat for end of Feb/ early March.
Unfortunately it looks like my wings have been clipped....

Yeah, sending them up the Abrolhos Islands might have been a bit cruel. Don't mention the Batavia.
According to COVID mapping, Libya and North Korea haven't returned any positive results. Maybe go there?
I'm up in the very far north of WA , in a remote community called Kalumburu.
Have swag and tent organised to go even more remote if needed.
Weather starting to cool down , plenty of water and fish out here !![]()

Too many crocs for water sports though !
I'm south of Hobart and things are very quiet. Tourists in their caravans and campers who arrived prior to the "shut down" are being catered for as best we can prior to them getting back on the "Spirit" and going home to a 14 day isolation. Most if not all attractions apart from the wilderness are closed down so there really is nothing to do except sit tight and ride it out.
No one foresaw what is happening, TODAY, Christmas time you could buy a ticket, hop on a plane and go anywhere in the world, two weeks ago we witnessed cretins piling their shopping trollies full of bog roll and a plethora of 'virus' jokes that have since dried up now that this s*** has got serious.
Everybody, please, do your little bit and maybe your family and friends will come out the other end relatively unscathed. As for those who cant seem to grasp the situation, stay the f*** away from me and mine.
Glad I am I Tas but ultimate escape Sailing La Vagabonde and others like them as long as they can keep catching fish to supplement their own supplies.
Hard to go past main beach on the Gold Coast. Got surfing and kite surfing across the road and awesome mountain bike trails 15 minutes away @ Nerang.
Yep blow up the bridge and find out whether all the old roosters will whinge more about not being able to get a haircut as opposed to getting sick ![]()
Easy, my place. Lots of bush around the house, a large shed full of possibilities, internet and a deserted beach nearby. Either ride to the beach or ride the bush tracks. The local pub is doing takeaway Parmas and my fridge is stocked with beer. Bring on the shut down ![]()

Yep. Rottnest has been turned into a quarantine zone for a cruise ship up near Steep Point with hundreds of Aussies on it.
The two cruise ships in the pic? One has no Aussies on it and has been denied permission to come alongside, was on its way to Dubai (which I assume is its port of origin but not sure) and has been told it won't be allowed there either.
The other boat is similar - not sure if the details - but basically has nowhere to go, yet has very few or no Aussies on it.
the News tonight mentioned the possibility of the Navy boarding and taking control of these vessels. There are no plans presently for them to be on Rottnest, but that could change very quickly if their home country doesn't take them.

I've been lobbying our councillors to close town to any new arrivals inc caravan parks, were struggling with stocks as it is for locals, my cafe's kill it during a busy holiday period but if the town stays open and with full bookings which they currently have ill not be a part of it and close,

Pffffttt... I heard bonobovirus was all over that beach...

not in a national park, my mum was told yesty to pack up & head home. parks are closing.
they wont the mob at home, easier to control that way.
I hope you are right and its already flattening?
Considering potential delays in reporting it's hard to tell. I suspect yesterdays result is an outlier missing some data and accordingly todays will be higher in compensation. However there would be some hope (probably vain) from that data that the new daily cases are not increasing significantly.
Realistically given that any confirmed cases lag infection by 8-10 days I think we need to keep an eye on what happens in the next 7 days. That will tell the story if the measures taken are working.
