Hey guys,

My dad just took up kitesurfing and he's looking for a twintip.
He's about 120kg so I'm looking for something that's in the area of 165cm.
Do you guys know of any second hand gear or a good place to find a board around that size. Most of the boards I come across are the regular 130-140cm.

Thanks!
Nekka

RRD made about a 120L twintip back in the late 90's

But maybe the kite forum will be more of a help.

I seen a "Flying Carpet" once at a kite shop in Ozzie Park in Perth. It was about the size you want.

Cheers Joe

If he's kiting in Perth (typical 20-25kn seabreeze conditions) then a 165cm twintip may be too big after the intial stages of learning. No problems if he's happy to use it in lighter conditions (a bigger, gruntier kite is far better though when you want raw power) or sell it, however if he only wants 1 board to last him a few years i'd look at a twin tip between 145-150 with. Varies on the board style and kite of course.

Even this year after putting on more weight, i can't see myself ever wanting to go bigger than 145/150 for a TT.

Flydoor XL if you want the biggest (170x50) but you may get over it after a year or so. Flyradical XL...

Or if you want channels and Carbo (you do) Axis make an excellent light wind/fatties board in the Ultra.

No need for such a large board. I'm 130kg and ride a Noble 138/42. Going on 13 rebel from 15 knots and 10 at 18 knots. Chances are you old mans knees and/or ankles won't be in top form either and a big board will just destroy them.
