My parents have solved this one. There isn't anything they need that they don't already have, and they don't want any more junk in the house. They have announced an edict...all presents must be perishable and disposable. So, it's flowers, chocolates or restaurant vouchers. So much easier, and no more pointless spending.

Sky dive, hot air balloon, microlight lesson/flight, vintage car day, race car track day, piss up and a BBQ , done all these for my dad except sky dive as he had a dodgy hip he's 81 now but still a bloody legend and up for anything

Does he windsurf/surf/SUP/Kitesurf?
Does he exercise?
Does he like music?
Does he drink beer?

Was only thinking the same yesterday whilst having a paddle around except it`s for my 60th , so a trip to the Maldives might be in store , for this old fella !
Maybe a Ducati or guzzi cafe racer !

I got my dad a hammock, he loves it. Uses it nearly every evening.

Combining Drewpie's hammock with Craig's twins would make for a pretty memorable pressie

It's a while ago now, but I remember my wife getting a new 5.0 sail for her 60th. Don't think I did anywhere near as well.

Got my dad a bosun's whistle for his 75th. To remind him of his days in the British Navy. I don't think his wife approves. Rang me yesterday to see if Dad could come live with me!

I got mine a 30yo single malt.

My wife got me a 40yo single malt for my bday, but it wasn't great or even a well regarded dram.

Ancestory DNA kit. It's surprised nearly everyone I know that's completed it.

That's bcos they use sudoscience, small samples and then keep your dna for themselves to hmmm improve their results.
So you should take your result, with a pinch of salt and a beer.
There was a published identical twin test, their results were both European, but from completely different countries.

I really loved my Glider Flight for my 60th and it didn't collect dust or take up space.

What I usually do for my folks (quite senior)

I buy them tickets to a show/theartre.
I also make sure I am free on the night of the show where I play chauffeur for them. I pick them up from home drive them to the show, I then pick them up after the show and take them home.

They really look forward to thier pressy every year.

But speaking as somene approaching 60, I'd love a new sail for my birthday
