Way back in September I ordered a recliner, the invoice had delivery in Approx. 14 weeks. I said WTF, do you need to raise the cow.
He said it will probably come before but don't call us before 14 weeks.
14 weeks in I call up and ask when it's been delivered... it's just got in to the country, but will still take a couple weeks to get to you.
16 weeks in I call up and tell the guy I tired of waiting, and he says looks it might be a couple more weeks, but don't worry I will lend you another recliner exactly the same but in a different colour, say exactly the same... yes a display model in another colour... OK.

5 days go by, I call again... calling the bastard takes 2-5hrs bcos they're always engaged.
Me: Where's the recliner, you said it was being delivered today, my wife stayed home expecting it?
Sales: The truck broke down, we'll arrange for delivery tomorrow.

Next day my wife calls; they've delivered some green piece of crap, that looks nothing like your chair.
I come home and yup some 1/2 recliner piece of crap, I wouldn't ever sit in.

Call up again...
Me: You said you would lend me the same model. This is nothing like it.
Sales: Oh sorry I couldn't get your model, but don't worry your recliner will be delivered this week.

So now in to the 18th week, with a green piece of crap in my hall way, I'm seriously pissed off.
I'm very tempted to tell him to go **** himself if he ever calls, just bcos he needs to learn to not mess his customers around.

What would yous do?

Btw: It's not exactly a cheap recliner, in the USA it costs US$1349 (Made in USA), but over here I got him down from $3500 to $2800 (Made in Thailand).

Yep ffs who pays nearly 3K for a recliner from Thailand, more to the point who pays nearly 3K for a chair.

That's if it comes. Why Thailand, don't we make decent enough recliners in Aus? Serious question.

Old windsurfers don't die. They spend their windsurfing budget on recliners.

Someone who is obviously serious about reclining..

I would like to see this chair.

You could tell them that it's taken too long and you want your money back. It could speed up the delivery. Although, if you're prepared to wait 14 weeks for a chair, what's another 4 weeks?

Perhaps an ugly recliner thread is needed?

There is only one recliner in history that is nice - the Eames chair! The rest all suck some serious arse! Stoopid, bulky, ugly leather

Yea, in the 3rd world they rock up to a shop and the next day they get their recliner for 1/10th price.

Nothing special, but that's what a chair costs these days. My current lazboy is 14 years old.
Feel free to call around and ask for the price.
And the difference between 14 weeks and 18 weeks, is more than 25%.

Tell them it's taken 25% longer than it should have.

I know someone who brought a sweet reclining chair from the local anglican op-shop. It's in perfect condition, brown suede. She paid a whole $2 for it..
Although someone might have died in it..

I'd cancel the order. Then when it's sitting in the shop for a while, offer half the price.

Yeah, all these techniques sound great... unless there is only a single supplier and you really want that product.

it sounds like Flysurfer's cat's recliner is just going to take its own sweet time to arrive.
