Finally we will be able to buy and afford some local crayfish. I know there's talk that Lancelin jetty will start selling direct from the boats soon, but, does anyone know any specific of when / where / how much I can buy ASAP?
50 crays per boat / per year - so you can expect pretty much buggar all.
One boat can sell one cray a week. Bugger all doesn't even start to describe it, that's a joke, surely??
^^^ The 'joke' started under Minister Norman Moore's leadership. New rules where they can fish any time but have to try and guess when based on what price may be, so don't get your quota too early as price doubles for Chinese New Year and all that crap. Then, on your day off not allowed to catch a dhufish or snapper, or even take a charter out once a year (not even a non-fishing charter) for a few quids.
If they wanna sell all their catch straight off the boat, let them.
But no, Govt wants to protect the export industry..... even though normal folk don't really care if a some rich Singaporean can't pose for his mates with a $200 cray at New Year.
Maybe throw more enforcement resources at the asians pilfering abalone and crays, even bread n butter fish, etc for the local restaurants and just let the pro's run their business.......

So you mean like normal market demand and supply? like the Chinese want lots at their New Year and are prepared to pay for it?
Big expensive cockroaches of the sea floor. But I agree, if there's a demand for them the fishermen should be allowed to sell them direct off the boat.
The most over rated food on the planet I think!
If a plate of mud crab or blue swimmers were on offer I'd prefer them
However 1 min at the boil
Butterfly
Prep searing hot pan with a touch of garlic and olive oil
30 sec flesh down 30 sec she'll down
Salt, pepper and a drizzle of fresh lemon
Overrated for $36 a licence
Your tripping

Yes valid point .... I didn't write it well but I am talking about having to predict weekly fluctuations. Guys have to guess at the price in a few days to know whether to fish now. Its dumb.
