Just back from the US and an Uber driver put me onto a new car sharing app called Turo.
Currently not in Oz but if you're off to the US or Canada I can recommend it.
I just used it in Waikiki and got a Hyundai Sante Fe for $46 per day. A couple of other families I was away with also used it and it was trouble free for all of us.
