Anybody has seen one of those? Would be good on a yacht for safety? It is small and extremely bright. Any feed back?
It's just another torch, there are hundreds of tactical flashlights out there that you can pay up to $1000 for. It depends what you want it for, I suspect the batteries will drain very quickly at 600 lumens off only 3AAA's but $69 each or 5 for $200 if you want one each for the car, home, boat etc it might be ok.
But drop it on the boat and its gone, for the boat you might just be better off with an LED Dolphin that floats for under $30?
I have a thrunite tn32, 980m throw, 1702 lumens, bought it to blind intruders.
Extra, extra, read all about it: www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?381746-Thrunite-TN32-(XM-L2-3x18650)-quot-Thrower-quot-Review-RUNTIMES-BEAMSHOTS-VIDEO

Geez that dude is really into his torches, can't say I've ever seen a torch hooked up to an oscilloscope before
Nice torch, I agree $7 on fleabay.
For boat use there is a good'un like these![]()
For $7 too. Very watertight the switching is magnetic. Lens is OK too. Would I trust it with my life... Probably not but then you buy 2. A different boating forum has lots of happy users. They can be a rechargeable battery or 2aa from memory.
I've bought quite a few over the years, from deal extreme in china.
I didn't bother with the ones that run off AAA batteries because they go flat too fast. They suck up about one amp.
I get the ones that take a lithium rechargeable battery type 18650, usually around 2500 milliamp hours capacity. (they say, but they never are. Usually about half that or less at the current required.
You can have a look at them here.

The 18650 battery is the one used in the old laptop battery packs. I pull them apart and pick out the good cells when the battery pack has carked it. They still run the torch for an hour or two, depending on how carked it is. The pack has 6 cells and you usually get about 4 or 5 good ones.
You can also buy the cells form deal extreme but they take ages to get here due to not allowed to transport by air.
You MUST have a proper lithium battery charger to recharge each cell. An ordinary charger will blow them up. Absolute maximum voltage of 4.2 voltage. Anything over that goes pyrotechnic. DX sells those as well,. about $12 I think.
I've bought lots of stuff from them and never any problems.
Some of the torches are better than others as far as brightness and battery drain goes.
The three mode ones seem to be the best with the CREE led , xml t6 I think.
The 5 mode ones have too many modes to click through to get the mode you want.
The three mode is bright, dull and flashing.
Anyway, they're cheap so I buy some of lots of different sorts.
I lose them so often I need lots.
Oh,.. but they don't float. Straight to the bottom they go, but if it's on then at least you can see it,. for a short while, down at the bottom of the muddy drain,.. blinking away,.. save me,. save me,.. SOS,..
Nice torch, I agree $7 on fleabay.

got one of them too... pretty good actually I bought it for night diving ~10 years ago.
If you want to know EXACTLY what you are getting when you buy an LED torch online, look up the LED specs on these pages:
flashlightwiki.com/Cree
flashlightwiki.com/Old_Cree_LEDs
Basically, when they do a production run, they measure the brightness of each individual LED, and then they get put into coded bins. You first find the table for the model LED, (eg. XM-L), then look up the bin number, (eg. T6). You'll see that the light output can vary by double for the same model LED depending on the bin number.
If your torch is made with one of the high output LED's, they will include the bin number in the specs. If they don't, then presume it's from one of the low output bins.
BTW, here's your torch for under $14 including postage.

I've got a couple of those. You can throw away the AAA battery sleeve and put in the 18650 Lithium. They are the same size as the three AAA's with sleeve.
The 5 modes is a bit of a nuisance though. I prefer the 3 mode. Bright, dull and flash. I use flash mode on ma bike. You can get a rubber clamp to fit it on the handle bars. They cost a whole 3 dollars so buy lots.
I even fitted two on the lawn mower. One for forwards and one for reverse.
(oh,.. I'm so embarrassed . But I kept running over bobtails in the dark.

Oooh that's not tactical. It has to black or camo and assplode when you enter a secret code. That's for girls to fix their makeup.
