I haven't been watching The Block, other than on fast forward if it looks interesting, but this recent drama is crazy.
Scott Cam has made the mistake of calling an area designed for entertaining a party house, which is pretty much what the designers called it earlier. They then decide that its a slur of some sort on their lifestyle and get all upset.
What is this with people? There are enough idiots in this world to genuinely get upset about instead of trying to be insulted by people that are not. Is it a way to draw attention to yourself and show people that you want to be special? Calling out people for things that they are not doing?
Sadly, there were some tweets from someone saying "For those who don't think casual homophobia was committed, it isn't what you consider offensive to the targets it is what the targets consider offensive that makes it so".
How does that logic work? We are supposed to be against homophobia because its unfairly targetting someone for something personal about their life, that in reality doesn't affect us at all. Not to give them the right to have mock outrage at something that isn't an attack on them.
I feel sorry for Scott Cam. He was reading comments that other people made, and then gets accused of something he feels strongly about, i.e. not wanting to be seen as homophonic. The irony is that the contestants are picking on him, as are many people on social media.
Does everyone want to feel special by pretending they are always discriminated against?
P.S. No one please comment on my post as I feel like this would be discriminatory towards me and somehow alienating me. Remember of course, it is the way I see it that matters that counts. Logic, or the interpretation of a reasonable person need not apply. Its all about me, me, me!
Party house vs circle jerk?
"Reality" TV with its designed-in conflict to generate its own advertising.
Load of absolute rubbish.
But now seems it might not be just benign trash, when the progressive militant left start using it on social media to tell us what we have to think.
It clearly was not homophobic. Duh. Fkn idiots
It's called the idiot box for good reason

Have you noticed how avid telly watchers start to talk like the telly?
I've a mate who shares a lot of stuff from America's Got Talent. I could cheerfully bury an ice pick in the judge's craniums for the hamming it up they do.

I have a friend that doesn't watch TV, so comes up with these clips from things such as America's Got Talent online, and then sends them to everyone as if he has just discovered the next best talent. He misses the bit, as you point out, about the judges hamming it up, and he assumes that every judge saying its the most incredible voice ever, actually means that.
Sometimes not watching enough TV can lead to a problem where your perspective on things is just as skewed as those that watch too much. Just skewed in a different direction.

So what was the offensive term ? Just in case I meet a gay architect...![]()
Manufactured drama. They should.put a glory hole in the toilet
bahahaha never a truer statement said on here.
I was devastated when I found out only channel 9 had the ashes cricket. Those bloody adds are not only insulting they send me insane as I start insulting the poor TV like it is its fault. Worse is the adds for their own TV show rubbish they are airing on their useless station.
Suduko in the add breaks kept me slightly intact. Now I know why I never watch commercial TV. I will gladly pay for this privileged.
It just highlights ow truly doomed we are as a species as they will only show what people will watch. They satisfy inherent demand, they don't make it.

Speaking of schools. Youre right that's where all this starts. Left wing teachers slam down their throats their own opinions that they are all doomed. Kids are genuinely scared that their planet will be dead in 10 years and the Block will be cancelled.
Very similar to how the hippy teachers scared the crap out of us about nuclear war.
But in reality the world world won't end, just as Nuclear war didn't happen. We forgot about it because it was pushed too hard on us and we realised it was an over reaction.
And the Block may be cancelled, but something similar will come about.

Its a bit strange in that they didn't actually use a particular term as far as I can tell. The judges just mentioned that it was an entertainment room and there were references to it being a party house, started by the sounds of it by the contestants themselves.
I think the general idea was that it was meant to be for people without kids, having money to spare, to enjoy their lifestyle. Which is funny, as that can apply to a lot of people that have had kids and they have left home, which Scott Cam himself points out includes him and his wife. The strange bit is that when anyone else uses the same terms, the gay guys think its a personal attack on them.
I think if you want to be outraged you can make up something to feel outraged about. I am sure these guys have suffered some insults by people over the years, but it doesn't automatically mean everyone does it.
I guess I have just realised why I don't really watch the block anymore. It originally seemed to be about people that would have a go at a lot of it themselves, doing at least some of the work, and then try and dress things up. Now it seems like a competition where they just direct builders, sometimes engage stylists, and then just dress rooms up to try and win.
And what's with all the social engineering. It's compulsory to have a gay couple in these shows now (master chef etc) there may only be 5 couples.but one will be gay. Hardly reflective of society or the viewing demographic. Soon we will have to have a transgender or non binary couple. Only reason they haven't already is it would probably turn into a total fxckfest.

I don't know if its social engineering or not. If its promoting acceptance, then I don't mind at all. Its not going to change anyone's own preferences, so its not like its changing anything.
I wouldn't be surprised if they go through every application, and there must be thousands, saying 'boring, boring, boring' and then picking ones that are likely to not be boring. Perhaps a millenial has decided that the gay community must be represented? Who knows? From a marketting perspective, would you choose to promote a show promoting home improvement and styling to a target group that is cashed up and appears to be more bothered with styling than what you and I ever will be (is that a bad stereotype I am using?).
This guy seems to think Scott Cam was in the wrong. Honestly, I don't know how he gets that opinion. Are people trying to feel special ALSO by pointing out others failing when it comes to discrimination? I think some people want to look better by imagining other people's faults. In this case, I think the problem is comprehension skills, for the author of this article.

I'm not sure if it's left wing teachers or policy.
My son who was very over weight & getting bullied about it has lost about 40 kg & has man boobs now .
A girl he was partnered with to do an assignment who has previously made this joke to my son repeatedly teasing him heaps & again on this day This day in class and she even admitted that "You have bigger tits than me now " wasn't doing the work & he said it back to her " come on just because I've got bigger tits than you doesn't mean I have to do all the work "when she didn't hand the assignment in she bunged it on he's upset me saying that & I was too traumatised & couldn't do the assignment.
Now he has a suspension warning & has to do a two week sexual discrimination course .
wtf
Dep principal explains the entire thing
Doesn't really see this as sexual harassment but a complaint has been made & that's the automatic punishment if a complaint has been made .
He has too do the coarse now or he can't attend the school.
Another kid was accused of trying to look up her dress & she was too traumatised to do that assignment as well.
He has proven he wasn't in the classroom at the time of the accusations but he's got suspension warnings & has to do the sexual discrimination course
Automatic
This seems to be happening every time she has to hand in assignment
She can just say whatever she wants & get someone in trouble just to get out of doing her work & the teachers & guidance councillors say they have to act & the boys must be punished there hands are tied a complaint has being made they have to act .Automatic suspension warning & have to do the sexual harassment course .
I cannot for the life of me understand this situation .
The Asop fable about the boy who cries wolf comes to mind
I imagine one day the wolf will get her & nobody will believe her.
So how does this pc gone wrong actually help anyone?
That's bad! How can they justify an automatic punishment? That's crazy. Anyone can make claims, so why should it be automatic.
If your son made similar allegations against a girl, you can guarantee it wouldn't be an 'automatic' punishment.
I can see that no one that knows of her habit is going to want to be paired with that girl for any assignment.
Years ago I worked for a company where they asked me to train up a woman that worked there that needed more current skills as hers were going out of date.
I began teaching this woman, and she would forget everything the following week. After a while I asked her to do homework to at least jog her memory over the weekend. This was a woman that had a 16 year old son, that spent half the time living with his father, and she had a permanent boyfriend where she would stay at his place most of the time.
When she repeatedly didn't bother doing any revision, she went to her manager and told him 'I am a single mother and I don't have time to do this and he is asking too much'. WTF? She hardly saw the son and at 16 he was pretty much self sufficient. She was too busy going out from what she was telling me.
I could see no good ending to this, so I went to her manager, explained the situation and opted out of doing this training. I have no idea what this woman was expecting, but even then I could see that she would be coming up with all sorts of excuses if she felt like it. I think that people need to be aware of discrimination, but not automatically siding with allegations because its the easiest thing to do.

There are so many conservative teachers within the system but they have to remain silent.
They try their best but the left wings long march through the institutions has worked.
Only left wing views are allowed to be spoken in schools, there is no humour, no relaxing from the ever listening thought police looking to punish anyone thinking different.
Teachers generally avoid staffrooms, Friday drinks, get togethers and social events due fear of the thought police.
This is what most students think of the left wing activist teachers

My U. Hit it on the head, doesn't matter if it's an Oz or American reality show there always must be a minority group represented. If you watch the first episode of any show where they introduce the contestants you can guarantee there will be gay people or Muslim women represented (because of what Muslim women are forced to wear makes them very distinctive). You can't straight away recognise Muslim men, so for the major networks that doesn't work.
So before you start shouting racist I have no problem with any race or gender bringing skills and therefore value to a show for our entertainment , but to give you an example the last two seasons of Masterchef have given us a Muslim female contestant wearing a head covering. As a percentage of our population and given the number of people that would apply for that show they are massively over represented. Quite ironically neither of them got too far through the process. Just long enough that the producers could be sure that we knew they were there.
If I need to go on, MKR, Survivor, The Block, Gogglebox and so on.
Sick of the predictable virtue signalling BS. Just give us the best person for the job regardless of race or gender and stop insulting our intelligence.
And as an aside before you say don't watch it then , These days I only get limited time to spend with my teenage son so I tolerate watching these shows at night so we can at least have some sort of interaction.
Or the bachelor
The last few season have started with token mix of all sorts. Looks more like some live aid event
It doesn't last long, it is all blondes and brunette in the end
errr.....so I have been told by a friend who watches it
Wow, a lot of old school racist types on here.
" Im not racist, but"
"I have nothing against those people, but"
Don't teacher bash. There is policy and as an employee you must follow it or lose your job as with many occupations.
Commercial TV is just sh1te.
End of story.

LOL, what an absolute legend that guy is. I found an online response by QCAA that this was not deliberate, but try resting your hand on a desk like this, it's definitely not a natural relaxed position.
