There's so much doom and gloom in the world today. The prospect that Donald trump may be president, wars, poverty, political agenda's, crime etc....And no offence, but a lot of topics understandably on here are of that nature. It's a lot better than some of the other forums I visit where debate and conspiracy are rampant, but sometimes it helps to stop for one second and think of the good instead of the bad. It seems too easy these days to forget the small things we all have....So leave the negativity at the door, and simply list some of the things that make you happy and your grateful for. I'll start.

Waking up with my son early on a sunday morning and watching cartoons with him. ( he is two )

Being at the beach, and watching the sunset.

A beef cheese and bacon pie after one too many.

Sleeping under the stars by a fire.

Eating a wicked feed, and knowing you have nothing planned, and going into a food coma.

4 walls around me, a roof, food on the table, and my health.

Millions of people around the world never have, and never will get to have any of the above. Meanwhile we sit here and complain about the time it takes for our internet ordered, home delivered, extra bacon with cheese filled crust pizza to arrive to our very doorstep. Sometimes you just gotta take a step back. Throw them out there people, I'm sure there's some good ones among the members here.

Smelling the distinctive wattle bushes in the midwest that mean spring and seabreeze.

Watching the stars with kids and hearing ooh and ahhhh for every satellite that goes past

Playing with puppies.

Yes, I also love the smell of the rotto pines in summer as you arrive for a chill out week.
riding the pushy, swimming at one of the many bays, reading a good book,
Oh and frothy's at the Rotto pub in the arvo.

A friend of mine sent this link to me today.

Life in Australia right here, right now, is not that bad.

"Here's the problem: no one wants to stand between a fellow Australian and this hunger for feeling aggrieved. And so we end up with an echo chamber of discontent, in which every attempt at optimism is shouted down – the present is always worse than an imagined, lotus-eating past.

I wondered how long until it was going to get onto the female anatomy.

Yes, boobs are great....but far better is a wonderful woman who is the owner of the mentioned articles, to share many wonderful things with.

Life....Intimacy.....Family....Great adventures...Picking you up after a downwinder.....Sitting in the car patiently while you spend half the day on the water

Do you actually have one of those, or is that some pipe dreaming?
I have never met one of those, or know of any that is the significant partner of any of my friends.
Surely it must be some sort of mail-order bride from a foreign country, or something like that.

But good on you if really have one. Amazing.

They are not a pipe dream. I have one of them and I'm definitely going to hold onto it. A good book for her and a young grommet down the beach keeps her busy while I'm on the water

That would be good until you both want to hit the water and you have the kid to look after. Guaranteed the wife would win in that situation every time. Angry wife = no loving .

It's been a pretty hektic week around the bunker,

Kids moved out, [but took my minions with them]

Killed the mortage today too - felt right chuffed walking out of the bank this morning!

Back to Rockhopper's original intention (after it was diverted by the female anatomy), to talk about good things instead of negativity.

I'm not into patriotism and glorification, but I heard a speech today on the wireless about Fromelles and the Somme in WWI.

Talk about good....all those guys who went and fought for our country, went through hell, and many of whom did not make it home.

As we whinge about our "first world" problems, it is worth thinking about how much better off we are for what these blokes went through 100 years ago.
