I love how he sums it all up, my exact thoughts. Would love to have a surf with this dude one day
unfortunately some people get suckered in by greed and trying to out do other people ( look at facebook ) I think they call it the rat race.
If anyone has any tips to stay out the race and enjoy the ocean more please post below.
Unfortunately the simple reality is we all have to do something to survive. Whether that's being a hunter gatherer totally removed from modern society, or working 18hrs a day to buy flash cars and keep up with the joneses on Facebook, or something in between like most of us do; the sad reality is that we all (other than maybe a very tiny % like Dave) have to do something other than have fun on the ocean. So while it's a cool vid and all, it's a bit naive and simplistic to suggest we're all blindly wasting our prime years if we're not all having fun on the ocean all day, every day like Dave is. We can't all be "professional watermen".
It's all about balancing ideals with reality. Hating on ourselves for not having fun all day every day seems a bit pointless to me.
But I still wish I was Dave.
It's a commercial, he is trying to sell himself to build his bank account, by selling you the dream.

Hey, I wasn't really meaning that - but I hope you have a nice work/ life balance sorted out for yourself.
Think of it as a continuum instead of an 'either/ or'
I know for sure that the most important thing in life is getting out on the water (for me anyway).
Once I walked into Surf FX after a sunny day of 25 knots and the poor bloke was sweeping the carpet by himself.
...with only a paddle.
